Most M$ products are good in concept, but bad in implimentation, despite M$ having some of the best CS talent on this earth. The Win95 UI was a great leap ahead for its time, but they tried to put too much into the kernel, and whitness the frequent and infamous Blue Screen Of Death. Most people agree that M$ are worst when it comes to their OS implimentations and their monopolistic business practises. >Microsoft > Developer Studio 98 for example is a very nice package, I have yet to see > anything that is better, on any platform. That is purely a matter of personal preference. I didn't like it, but I have been brought up on and Xterm, Emacs and make. Note that both methods can be equally as productive. The thing that turned me off VisualStudio most was its instability (or was that the OS's fault?) and also the Win32/MFC APIs. There are much better (read: cleaner) GUI API's out there GTK and QT being two examples. (Both have Win32 support too, altho GTK more limited). == Matty email - mattpratt@xxxxx.xxx "Learn the console, become 1 with it, it is 0." _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
