RedHat 5.0 was a somewhat buggy release, and is quite dated now (that means alot of fiddling to get new software of the 'net working). Try and get 5.2 if you can. Maybe borrow it off a friend, or there are a number of places that sell CDs for less than $3US. > Anyway, I need to know how to configure an internet > connection in Linux, and > what I would have to do to get my video chip to > work. (says Unknown video > chipset or something) > Goto http://www.netalive.org/nets_linux.html I have posted some dialup scripts that have been very handy for me (in the newbies section). Also see http://www.linux.org/help/index.html Look at the HOWTO, and the PPP and ISP Hookup HOWTOs in particular (they will also be on you hard drive at /usr/doc/HOWTO There are a number of programs that offer a windoze GUI type appoach to seting up you dialup, but since you want to learn how it works I recommend you RTFM and do it by hand. As for your video card, take the cover off your box and check what kind of card it is. Chances are it will be supported, esp. in the upcomming Red Hat 6.0 release. Otherwise set it up as a standard SVGA card. You can setup your X configuration after the install by running "Xconfigurator" as root (it gives you the same screen as in the install). Good luck. === Matty . http://members.xoom.com/mattpratt/ _--_|\ mattpratt@xxxxx.xxx / \ s3099239@xxxxxxx.xxx.xxx.xx \_.--._/<--Canberra, W2K - The other millenium bug. v Australia _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
