All compilers for all laguages you can think of
(except delphi). C, Pascal, Basic, perl, fortran,
python Tcl/Tk, C++, shell scripting... the list goes
on. Then you also get all the tools that go with them,
like make, source formatters, all the binary utils,
debuggers (graphical too), IDEs, widget toolkits,
libraries... everything you caould want. All for free.

On top of this most of the GNU tools are standard to
all UNIX platforms since they are free. This instantly
makes you code more portable, as code you write will
compile on many platforms on many architectures.

I no loger run KDE, but I still love my emacs.
