VB programing

Hello to all...
Can some one help me on VB programing. I am learning to program in  VB, i
already know C++,Pascal,Asm,Qbasic.
But in VB i dont know how to send information to a   I/O port (com1), is
there a command like the outp( ) in C++ to send and
recibe info?
