Program help

I need to write a program that takes data from another program that is 
running at the same time, do calculations on that data and then enter 
keystrokes into the other program based on the calculations made in my 
program.  If that is intelligeble, then please give me some feedback.  I 
would like to do this in either Visual Basic or Visual C++.
