There was two emulators that I had downloaded a very long time ago that would emulate a UNIX like system under the Microsoft Windows envirorment without rebooting the PC. I'm almost possitive that I downloaded the one that was or actually, used to be available on www.cygwin.com. Now it is no longer available, so it seems it's not. There is a compiler available, but that is not what I need. I already have probably more compilers than a standard programmer, developer and possibly even a company. (G) I do however need to aquire the emulators or whatever they were, or were called. I am almost possitive that one was called CygWin (although, like I said it was a very long time ago, and that appears to be a compiler.) I have BeOS (In my opinion, not all that good.) that is a example of what I do not want. This runs LIVE with a copy of Windows 9X/NT/00 installed and loaded. BeOS in every case, requires you to shutdown to load in to it. Of course, you can also use a FD to boot from directly to BeOS but that still is not what I need. Also note the following: - A name may refersh my memory of the emulators or the programs which run side-by-side with Windows. - MUST be able to work inside Windows only, without a need to reboot the machine for any reason. - Must be stable and reliable. Although an exception may be made for beta/alpha or experimental software. * Optional: Include TCP/IP networking availability that uses and, or can use Windows TCP/IP protocols. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
