The Season Begins

Alright, I memorized the whole freaking Java API* and thus I'm ready for the first exam of the semester tommorrow morning.

The other exams will follow in short succession within the next two and a half weeks, so bear with my low posting volume in the next days and the past week.

* That doesn't mean I'm not bringing three laundry-baskets full of reference material to the exam, just in case. Not that you would have a lot of time to spare for finding a single thing in a Java bible of 1000 pages***. This is for soothing only**.

** I also like the notion that the solution to your problem could be sitting 20 centimeters away from you and you still cannot find it.

*** One fellow student recently mentioned that if all fails one could still knot their Java bible around their ankle and drown themselves in a deep river.

Growing a beard

# 13435

I'm trying to grow a beard.

It's really hard at first because you're always in danger to shave away the young thing in its undeveloped state. You practically have to change your whole morning bath routine. One overslept shave and the whole experiment might be doomed!

Another thing is that you're looking like a scruffy dork while your beard can not yet be recognized as one. My face is so screaming for a shave.

Last but not least, eating a bowl of cereals has become a truely ugly affair.

I buyed a beard trimmer today to assist me with my scheme. It was really funny because the package came with a pair of scissors and it was all shrink-wrapped in hard plastic. So the pair of scissors satanically smiled at me from inside the transparent box while I couldn't find a fucking pair of scissors. To, you know, open it. Get the scissors. Haha.

Has anyone here played Monkey Island by chance? Nevermind if not :)

Wish me luck. All tips and suggestions are welcome.

Note to self

From Jeremy Zawodny:

(...) Heck, now that I think about it, try to avoid technology arguments completely. Life's to short for all the associated penis waving and bullshit that comes with it. If you don't like my technology and I don't like yours, fine.

I love it when people located on the other side of the globe totally hit the mark with my thinking.

On being sick

Have you ever noticed how strange the world appears around you when you're sick and drugged up to the hair line? Interesting in particular is how human oddities can now longer raise your adrenaline level. You are just drifting through the day, following strange appetites and trying to run away from the luring pain inside you.

There's no such thing as sick leave in school. What a rotten day.

Tull

# 12630

I met Matthias aka tull (photo from the first NAO meeting) in Munich today and we chatted over a beer for a few hours. He's doing quite well, studying Informatics in his third year in Stuttgart now.

He also introduced me to the coolest cellphone there is. Seems like my recent decision to purchase a Palm is being put in question every week :)

The Writing On The Wall for PDAs?

# 12435

Everywhere on the web people are talking about the death of PDAs and Pocket PCs.

How can they do this to me now that I just bought a Palm last week?
