Today was so beautimostouphostihippostophostomous.
Got to see Evie the stony biscuit and my old buddy Drake, neither of whom I've seen in ages. They got stoned, and I, by default, got stoned. It was a small room. Think of it as second-hand pot. We watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Got to see my friends Eric, Mike, and Will today, in this happy little party after the stony ones. Pools plus party=pool party, which is fun. I also met a cool Irish girl who, unfortunately, is returning to Ireland soon. I did, however, get her e-mail adress, and I gave her the Netalive URL.

Now I need to get to bed, so I can be all refreshed tomorrow morning when I go off to my place of employment (I like to think of it as Hell, but with better pay)

Today's been a busy day. And I'm sure that, since you're reading this, that you must be really interested in what I did today.

Or really bored. (Digression!)

So after my weekly guitar lesson with T-bone, who is quite possibly the coolest teacher in the world (digression!), I headed to midtown with my dad to an Italian deli called Fino's from the Hill. For those who don't know, the Hill is a predominantly Italian area of St. Louis, in the heartland of America. All the stuff they have at this deli comes straight from the Hill, and some of that stuff comes straight to St. Louis from Italia.

From Fino's we headed over to Strings 'n' Things, a ginormous guitar warehouse, and bought some new equipment, though nothing major. New instrument chord, double guitar stand. Lightweight trip.

The real high point of my day has been that I've found a super-cheap, very nice 3 CD compilation of Goa music called the Clubber's Guide to Goa Trance. 3 hours of music for $17.99

. . . makes Nny a dull boy.
It's tough, working 40 hours in four days. For $100.
This past week, and again next week and the week after that, I'm employed as a senior counselor at a day camp out in the boonies. In the heat, and the humidity of a hellish Memphis summer, I take a group of kids around, so they can simultaneously enjoy themselves and annoy me. This week, I got kicked in the nuts.
Three times.

What's worse is that this work thing has my sleep patterns all messed up. Messed up in that I'm awake during the day and asleep at night. Strange occurences. Strange sacrifices for small sums of money.

Sorted through all my CDs, separating between rock, techno, and that weird in-between grouping that includes 311, Miles Davis, The Toasters, and Sublime. Might look up some Reggae, now that I've Rastasized myself (á la Kona in Fluke: I'm a white Rasta goof). Can't wait for the new 311. The new song is all about causing a lot of chaos, not unlike my job. Two days ago I almost rolled a golfcart into the lake.

With three passengers.

Canada, books, and Buddha Bar

Mm, sweet blissful summer reading. My one escape from the fear of actually having a job. Admittedly, day camp counselor isn't much of a job. . . but the prospect is still frightening. Not unlike the fact that something is very wrong in Canada. Very wrong. "They laughed at my toilet paper drawing. Why not strangle a therapist now?" Sounds fair.

Got another Buddha Bar. Number 5. There's a great song on the second disc, called Sphynx, by Giampiero Ponte. Most of the second disc ("Drink") is great. The first disc ("Dinner") is ok, but I've found that the latter disc, which is the more upbeat one, tends to be better. More like trip-hop (Argon Light trip-hop, not bouncy, annoying trip-hop) than ambient worldmusic (which is, from time to time, good itself)

Sandía!

Not much happened today.
Went back to Las Tortugas Deli Mexicana (Spanish translation? Why you lazy bu- . . . oh, fine. "Turtles Mexican Deli;" think of the turtles as mascots). Great place. They make these fruit drinks, and there are two magnificent ones- Horchata, which is described as a "rice based Acapulco drink," and is sort of spicy yet very sweet; the other, my favorite, is Sandía, a watermelon drink that's basically watermelon blended with ice.
So very, very good. Everybody should have their own personal Deli Mexicana like this one. The guy who owns it is really cool, and the main cook/sales dude, who makes the guacamole, is the best with red snapper.
Mmm, product placement. . .
