Depressing Realities

# 15875

Why is it that I never seem to get anything done? I've got so much stuff floating around in my head that would be cool to do, but i'll never get around to.

This is a personal reminder post, please don't reply or rate so I can edit it and add more stuff as I remember it.

When I'm done, I'll say so. Thanks.

List of things to do before I have a stress/anxiety attack and keel over at 30.

Well, I've had my end-of-contract review today.

Basically, my job was on a probationary 6-month period before I'm given a full-time contract. I've now completed that 6-month period, and had my review, which I must say went very well.

I think my boss is happy with what I've done, at least I hope he is. We discussed a lot of different ideas for the future, ambitions that my expertise in programming will finally enable the company to realise.

While I doubt this company will ever submit to the paper-less office craze that seems to be everything these days, we're getting closer.

And so I find myself in the position where I have to write another intranet, for another company. I love it, and I'm glad that they're giving me the opportunity to flex my development muscles, lest I fall into a pit of never-ending mechanical work and never sit and read through syntax-highlighted code again.

Yay!

I've decided this morning that life aint half bad.

I've got a great job, my own house, and a woman I love.

And having a house is a great achievement in my book, for a 20 year-old anyway.

This weekend was great. Saturday was my brother's 19th birthday, so Friday night he hired a function room in a bar and we all (that is to say, *I*) got absolutely hammered. Consequently, I spent most of Saturday sitting down, in an attempt to forget how to stand up. This is largely due to the fact that thinking about standing up made me feel as sick as a dog, and I figured that if I forgot how to do it, I wouldn't think about doing it so much.

And what makes me really sick is that my dad woke up fine, and he'd had more than me! He was awake at 7am cooking sausage sandwhiches!!

Sunday morning at the market (read: car boot sale) was very good. I managed to only spend 20 quid, which I normally double. I got hold of an OnDigital (Digital TV company who were bought out by ITV (hey monkey!) and consequently went bust) Digital Reciever, which I've tested at my parents' house and picks up the free-to-view channels very nicely. However, I'm going to have to put a parental lock on the QVC channel and not tell my fiancee the code, otherwise that house I own will soon belong to mr bank manager. Anyway, at £12, this was a damned sight cheaper than buying one for £80 from the BBC. And I get the same channels.

Other things I purchased were:

Dreamweaver MX (Education Version) £3 (bargain!!!!)
An AD&D Expansion box set, called Bleak something. The name escapes me currently - £2
Jacket potato with cheese and curry - £2 (hungry!!!!)

Last night (Sunday) Myself, my fiancee, my brother, his girlfriend and my parents went out to a meal at Chung's restaurant, the most fantastic chinese food in the whole of nottingham (that I have tasted)

mmmmmm ribs.

All in all, a good weekend

Wow.

I went round to the people's house this morning, the ones who we suspected owned the rabbit. They did own it, and they had absolutely no idea that this rabbit had been missing for four days!

No wonder it's got through a whole bag of rabbit food in a week, the poor thing must be starved. I felt sorry for it as I put it back in its owners' hutch, it was filthy, and quite obviously hadn't been cleaned out in over a week.

I'm contemplating telephoning the authorities....

Well, we appear to have found out who the owner of the rabbit is, so it looks like goodbye to our temporary family member. Having said that, we put a note through their door last night and we've still not had a phone call....

We'll have to wait and see if we get one tonight.

In other news, I only have the window-wall in the living room left to strip of wallpaper! yay! My week-long battle with over-pasted lining paper will soon be over!

In other, other news, I'm completely bored out of my wits at work today. Things seem slow without the boss whirling in and out and around like a badly-timed tornado.

In other, other, other news, I must stop being so lazy and get the bar out of the shed.

The guy who we bough the house from had a bar in the living room, which I thought was quite sweet, but alas, the other half didn't like it, so we pulled it out and stuck it in the shed with a rug over it. Anybody want to buy a bar?

Monday 4th August, 2003

Well, what can I say?

Today's a Monday. Which roughly translates in my life to boredom. Monday's always a slow day when you work in a support role like mine, since the people you're supporting often find Mondays dull too, and therefore the phone doesn't tend to ring much :-)

However, this Monday has proved slightly more interesting than any other monday, due to the sudden appearance of a perfectly innocent bunny rabbit in my back yard.

The usual drill was followed, up at 7:40, showered and dressed to leave the house at 8:00am. But, this Monday was to be different. I did all the usual stuff, and drew my curtains back at the usual time of 7:57am, to see a black and white bunny rabbit kindly mowing my grass for me. OK, it's a bit more of a lengthy process with a rabbit than with a petrol mower, but hey, a rabbit that's eating your grass doesn't need feeding, right?

Anyway, I spent an hour trying to put it in a box, and failed miserably, so I left my fiancee to watch and make sure it didn't run out the front into the road while I went to a relative's to fetch their unused rabbit run. Finally I managed to get the rabbit to trust me (after several leaves of lettuce) and now it's in a run in my back garden with some proper rabbit food and a water bottle thingy, and some bedding. Tonight, however, I have to move it indoors to stop the foxes trying to eat it.

Now this may not be very interesting, but to me it's brightened up my day, and given me a sort of mission to return it to its owner.

The weekend was terrible. Damn to whoever invented lining paper. Why not just plaster walls and paint them instead?

Anyway, enough from me. Ciaó
