Such a wonderful holidays these are.
In pain: I got my wisdom teeth taken out yesterday. All four. So, in pain.
The best part about it was the general anaesthetic. That felt good. They wheeled me into the operating room and the anaesthesiast and doctor and nurse started talking to me. Blah blah blah..."What do you want to do when you leave school...Music teacher? Is that right...that's the second one we've had in hear this week...What instrument do you play?" And then when I tried to sit up look at what they were doing to my left arm, "You know we're only talking to you to distract you?" Right, went along with it then.
Then "Here's a tiny little scrath, and I emphasize tiny...and here's another tiny scratch". Then they put a kind of rubber mask over my mouth and nose: "Just breathe this stuff in. You'll like it". So I did. And they kept talking. And sticking more needles into me. And sticking more round sticky things onto me.
By then the anaesthetic was starting to take effect and their voices became distant echoes, and the needles became (for real this time) tiny scratches. And it was the best feeling ever. More needles, more sticky round things, more talking. "Right, we're going to say good night and sweet dreams now. See you at the other end", but I was gone by then. And they knew it.
20-30 minutes later (or so they tell me) I woke up feeling like shit with a needle sticking out of my arm (surprise surprise) and now, well all I can say is Thank god for panadeine.
The in lonely part: All my friends are in New Zealand and remain uncontactable by any form. Enough said.

This seems to me being a very strange method of anaesthetic. Was this like a "small" general anaesthetic? This spring I also had to cut out my wisdom teeth. All I got was eight injections into my mouth. It was very, very painful. And it just anaesthethized my mouth. But very fast. After the last injection he made the first cut with the scalpel. I couldn't believe it already had an effect and was kinda terrified but it did: I didn't feel anything but that they always broke my jaw because it was so hard to get the teeth out.
And then the holes I had later! I always had to get out the food after every meal :D

When I had two teeth pulled when I was younger, my dentist used novacaine. It was supposed to be 5 injections in the area around the teeth, but he had to do another two because he'd boned up so bad. Even after the two that were supposed to make sure that I "won't feel a thing," it still hurt like hell.
I still don't like dentists.

8 out of my first 10 teeth that I lost were pulled out by my dentist (because my mouth was fucked up... teeth were coming out in all directions). They gave me a lot of those injections, but it always still hurt like hell. However, I always minded the injections more than the actual pulling. I think its because I have a fear of needles (I hate having to have blood drawn, or needing an IV... it freaks me out). Whatever it was, I know the pulling hurt more, but I minded the injection more.
