The Simpsons

Is anybody else out there an avid fan of The Simpsons? Not only has it been funny week in and week out for the past (nearly) fifteen years, it is also the smartest show on television, with constant insights, prods, and allusions to pop culture, politics, and the state of world affairs.
The amount of information within each episode is so vast that I am actually writing a college application essay on the Simpsons.
So, for all you fans out there, what is your favorite episode or Simpsons moment? My favorite episode is probably Homer the Heretic (Homer stops going to church, and his house is subsequently burned down by the acts of a vengeful God).
Often in my life, I have been able to relate my life to the Simpsons, and have found comfort in knowing that my situations are common enough to not only be mentioned, but openly mocked.

I don't think anyone could not love the Simpsons. They've been with me all my life long.

The amount of information within each episode is so vast that I am actually writing a college application essay on the Simpsons.

Unfortunately many jokes and allusions get lost in translation. Also many pop culture references are hard to understand unless you live in the States.

what is your favorite episode or Simpsons moment?

The one that springs to my mind is where Homer joins the secret Freemasons ("Stone Cutters").

I think I have two favourite Simpsons moments, and my memory of them isn't perfect, so I'll try my best to quote them:

Waiter: "We have a new cooker that can flash-fry a whole cow in thirty seconds"
Homer: "Thirty seconds? But I wanna eat now!"

And then another

Marge, cowering from homer aiming his gun like Magnum PI: "Homer be careful!"
Homer: "I don't have to be careful, I've got a gun!"

I find Homer hilarious, a perfect good-natured poke at america's image of couch potato, which a lot of americans portray to the outside world, an image which is repeated in series such as "King of the Hill"

Re: The Simpsons

I'll try to help you out a little with that quote, because that one sticks out in my mind as well.

Moe: Oh, boy! The deep fryer's here. Heh heh, I got it used from the navy. You can flash-fry a buffalo in forty seconds.

Homer: Forty seconds? But I want it now!

Haha, Bart Sells His Soul was a great episode.

Marge, cowering from homer aiming his gun like Magnum PI: "Homer be careful!"
Homer: "I don't have to be careful, I've got a gun!"

My favorite is from the same episode.

Homer accidentally fires the gun, and it hits a picture of Marge.

"oops. . . better turn the safety on"

Another bullet fires. Hits Marge's picture, dead-on.
Homer sets teh gun down, it goes off, hits a knife into the air, which subsequently strikes the picture of Marge.

I think I was in tears at this point...

One of my favourite episodes was "Bart the General" where they all ganged up on Nelson (a very early episode, I think)

The guy in the war memoranda store was hilarious, and totally freaked up.

Two alltime greatest simpsons moments

1. Everyone is in church and they realize the collection plate money has been stolen and they say like, "Oh My God!" And Abe wakes up and says, " What a Unitarian!??!" and looks all scared

2. Bart is playing gaes with the Flanders kids and they are playing this game where they have to "shoot" sinners with goodness and Bart nicks one and whats his name (can't remeber the flanders kids' names) Says Oh No You only mamed him..now he's a Unitarian"

Myself being a unitarian I love Matt Groeings little pops at us..it's fun stuff

Anything with Grampa or any of the Seniors is hilarious. In the episode where the kids get a curfew and they steal the television from the old folks home, they put a cat in the empty box. A Senior sits down and tries to change stations, saying "80 channels, and nothing but cats." Also, when they are trying to play bingo, and they think its funny to keep saying "You sunk my battleship, heh heh!"

The episode that floats to the top of my head is the one where Apu cheats on Menjula with the Squishee lady and Homer can't stop screaming and walks backwards with creep music. Brought tears to my eyes...

Sherry Bobbins

?% | 1

My favorite episodes of the Simpsons are the one where Marge's hair was falling out and they got a nanny named Sherry Bobbins to come in, and did the "American Way" song talking about cutting corners and doing a half assed job. Also I loved the one where Homer gets food poisoning from a hot dog at the Kwik-E-Mart and they end up in India to see the founder.

Other good episodes where "A Street Car Named Marge", and "Colonel Homer" (The one where he becomes the agent for the country singer).

My favorite musical numbers are:

"Send in the Clowns" (Krusty the Clown)
"The Amendment Song"
"It Was a Very Good Beer"

You fail it.

Re: The Simpsons

My favourite episode of the simpsons is "Legal mariuana" (yeahy eah I know, just typical for me :)
Where homer gets his eyes picked out by crows and has to take mariuana as medicine. I just love the point when he gets up and shaves himeself, the razorblade smiles at him and there are rainbows coming out from where his beard was and then he gets into his smiling cars and flies to the power-plant, rainbows spreading all around, flying twice around the chimneys.

Or later, when the busdriver (damn I always forget his name) inhabits a room in homers house and they always sit up there and smoke their stuff, marge comes up and the busdriver say to homer "Dude, your mom is HOT" :)

P.s. I don't know if that episode was ever aired, at least in germany it wasn't, i think, I got it from the web
