The Bright Side of Life

Life hasn't exactly been great the past three years. My dad got injured quite seriously at work, and after a drawn out legal process they decided to retire him (he's 53) at seven hundred dollars a month, which was about four hundred dollars less than he should have gotten. But there wasn't anything we could do about it. Luckly he was also getting work mans compinsation from the govt. It ran out a few months after he started getting his retirement. Things were kind of stressfull because he started drinking more (he was already an alchoholic), and he and mom faught more and more. He and I almost wen't to blows over some arguements. Well, last January my mother got fired over false aligations from he boss, and was denied unemployment. Things got worse financially which ment tension rose between the parental units, I got a job hoping to help make things better however they refused to let me help with the bills and it embarrassed them that they weren't providing for their family. Well, mom decided to go back to college and finnish her teaching degree, that boosted moral quite abit because she qualified for complete financial aid from FAFSA. And my dad finally qualified for social security, and the back pay check came in Friday. Another problem we'd had was that our manufactured home (a 1984 shoe box model) is litterally falling down around us, and that problem is being solved by our getting enough back pay to get a decent used manufactured home to replace it with, and about two months ago we sold the back seven acres of our land and pay off the rest and our current 'home'. Today we are going to go shopping some more for a new house, and both parents are getting along well. Last night we went to dinner as a family for the first time in months. It was nice.

Re: The Bright Side of Life

After reading like 90% of your post, i was wondering why you titled it "The Bright Side of Life." But after you mentioned having dinner out, it made sense. It's the little things in life that make life bearable, perhaps even worth it.
