I have Visual Studio and I'm doing some web ASP.NET C# programming with it right now. I've not messed with Visual C++ yet but maybe I could help out possibly.

You can get many free projects on some free websites. I dont know the actual site names but yes i can try finding them else you should go and try searching on net. I am also not sure if the project works on a good manner but at least you will get a way.

i have started learning vc++ quite sometime back.Its really awfull.
But that does not mean u shoul give up. Try , but don't waste much time. It's pretty hard.
U should b really strong in VC ++
