Some nice additions are on stack / in work for my DIY journaling system:

- XML-based filebase (well, thats just some seperate addition)
- XML 1.0-based comment system (now, THATS some useful add-in i'd, even correctly with all the DTD-mambojambo :D
- when i've reached the "integration of RSS"-part (RSSifx_TNG), I'll do an overhaul/beautifying of the whole source code and put it out into Public (either under the LGPL or CC-license)

thats it for now (I'm hacking this text on a notebook W/O a good keyboard!)

Re: Additions

Looks good ginsertbusch. I'm also hacking my own blog as well in C# ASP.NET.

I wanna integrate some RSS XML into it later on. I implemented my own PocketHTML like here on NAO a few days ago. I had originally done it in PHP and the Regular Expressions were just about identical in .NET so I was really excited about that.

I could implement it all in XML because with .NET XML is very easy to do. However I'm doing it in a SQL Database.

Anyway I look forward to hearing more details about your blog software.

Re: Additions

Well, if you'd search for an already existing and working solution, try out RSSify_TNG - but its code is all done in PHP, so maybe you dont want to use it ...

Haha, no I purposely chose .NET over PHP for the simple fact that I wanted to learn something new and was inspired by some work that a coworker was doing with it. Plus I was provided Visual Studio .NET 2003 Professional and its the best thing since sliced bread in my opinion. Nothing comes close. I'm looking forward to .NET 2.0 (Whidbey) early next year. This should be really nice. I just hope I can get a upgrade copy of Visual Studio (Whidbey) for less than $600 which we paid for a full 2003 version.

Incidentally one does not need Visual Studio to develop .NET. .NET is freely downloadable just like the Java Development Kit. There are free IDE's out there like Sharpdevelop and ASP.NET Web Matrix. But VS is just so polished. And its worth every penny. But I'm digressing from the original topic.

If I had it to do all over again I would not pick PHP. Not since I've learned the benefits of .NET. There is just too much cool stuff packed into it. And the ASP.NET server controls are to die for. For instance the Calendar control is f***ing awesome!

Re: Additions

Thanks for the link, anyway. It reminded me that not all who come here are native English speakers. Alas, sigh, the sweet irony of this is not lost on me: English comes from Germanic roots.

It looks really good, though. Like the links. To my chagrin I don't read German, but I do know someone who does. She's in Michigan, and she's my Schweetie's sister.

Actually, speaking of That Place, she's trying to encourage me and him to go to Germany with her in Spring 2005. If I have a regular job/money by then I'm going. (Bavaria is in Germany, right?)

I'll bet that just took 5 years off my life--but GODDAMM if it wasn't worth every second
