I just read:
But I am afraid we won't have a meeting in january/february. At least null told me so. He said we won't have enough space because Martin, the friendly neighbour will move out soon.
Is this a problem of too little space or would you also be unexpectedly busy on 16th - 18th? If it's only the former we could maybe arrange a meeting at a different location?

ginsterbusch *** (5) has a suggestion...
Maybe if I got out of on the news page mentioned situation and into a flat with a friend of mine (?what the heck is the meaning of "Wohngemeinschaft" in english?) ASAP, there might be some place. but that's just during the "IF-case", but i dont think that will happen to soon ...
... maybe some location at Jaz' place? Adding space at friends of yours? I even got a friend who is now studying Multimedia Informatics at the FH Augsburg, so possibly there MIGHT be some place to get more people cramed in.

I don't know. Null is the one to ask. But I think there is enough space. Let's see, without counting null and me in (and correct me if I'm wrong):
null: at least two sleeping places in the living room
Orchid: at least two sleeping places.
If Mr Crash joins, too, there may be another living room with a nice couch just opposite null's place.
So we've got places for five people at least and about eight at maximum. Who's joining at all? Maybe we aren't that much people.
We didn't spoke about the date, yet, but it's a weekend, so I think it'll work out pretty well.

Well, in short... this is not really correct! I said we're probably running into problems if we have a lot of guests from Austria/Germany (which will likely be the case).
Orchid's math is right tho: us two plus two guests can sleep at my place (Jaz, Ettena, ginsterbusch, you know the place). MrCrash happens to have, uh, got to know my neighbor in the meantime, so I'm pretty positive he could (and would like to :-P ) sleep at her place.
Martin the friendly neighbor, who provided us with additional space during the last meeting, has a girlfriend in the meantime, which means: a) filling his apartment with unknown people may be a bit harder than last year, and b) besides saying hi a few times on the stairs, I've heard virtually nothing from him for several months! (Kollegenschwein)
Current status: Orchid, me, MrCrash (if he joins us) plus any two other NAOees (Jaz and Ettena?) have a place for sure. Anybody beyond that limit would have to be accommodated at Orchid's place (10-15 car minutes), a small inexpensive hotel nearby (2-3 car minutes), or at some other place I can't think of right now.
Current questions:
Who would like to join us?
Would you still like to come to our place (Buchs/FL), or somewhere else?
Is January 16-18 (Friday evening to Sunday afternoon) still a good date/time?

Orchid *** (7) throws in her two cents...
Well, let's just look how many people we are :)
If it won't work out (but I am sure it will), there's still the possibility to postpone the meeting to feb or march until the Youth Hostel in Vaduz is open again after the winter pause. The great thing about it, is, that it is not too expensive, is very well situated and offers a lot of comfort as well as a big breakfast :) Null and I already had a tour through it. It's really nice :)

You know, there's always enough space for two people, and you and Ettena are always welcome anyways. So long as you don't mind sleeping on the couch next to the server. :-)
Meeting in Buchs: Everybody who'd like to join us, raise your hands please!

Well as the 18th is my birthday i am demanding that you all sing happy birthday in my honour and eat chocolate!!
If i owned a web-cam i would also demand to set up a meeting time but, oh well, i'll be there in spirit. have a drink or twelve for me ;)

Look at me! I'm a prostitute robot from the future!
Well the 18th may be a bad day to drink, because it's the last day, where I'll probably have to use a car for several hours! But since we're 10 hours behind you Aussies, we might be able to party in front of the webcam on Saturday evening, which would be around Sunday 7am-11am Melb'n time.
Which brings me to another question, has anybody got a relatively good webcam? ginsterbusch had one with him during the last meeting, but due to technical issue we weren't able to get it online before Sunday morning. :-P Orchid has a Vaio with WLAN, so if we could equip it with a cam we'd have a great mobile live broadcasting system!

Sorry for replying so late, I wasn't online yesterday.
I'd still very much like to join. On the other hand, I certainly don't want to cause any trouble regarding accomodation, so at least for my part
a small inexpensive hotel nearby
would be alright, too.

Well, let's see how many people we're going to be. Maybe we can find a place somewhere else. I'll keep you updated on the things happening.

null *** (12) has all the information you need...
This is supposed to be a brief overview, please read it and then ask me the things I've forgotten to mention!
Transportation
Where will we meet? At Lindau, like the last time?
Places to stay
1. My apartment. Jaz, Ettena, ginsterbusch and MrCrash have seen it (and of course Orchid!). It's
2. Orchid's place (maybe, just maybe). If we're really short of beds and can't findanything nearby.
3. MrCrash is likely to get a special place to sleep at my neighbor's.
The designated HQ will probably be my place.
Geek Stuff
There's plenty of Internet access and an internal file/Web server (accessible from the outside, i.e. for webcam pics). Access to the LAN is provided via 10/100MBit Ethernet or 11MBit WLAN (make sure your card has the Wi-Fi logo and supports 128bit WEP). For those who don't want to take their own machine with them (is this possible?), there's at least one and at most three machines with Mandrake 9.1, FreeBSD 5.1 and Windows 2000.
Shopping
In case all of your family/relatives asked you to bring cheese and chocolate with you, there's a chance to shop at Saturday until 16:00.
See you later!

And I assume not only him. She's got a nice living room with a couch, too and as far as I know her she won't mind hosting another two people.

she won't mind hosting another two people.
Nice idea, but maybe we should ask her before accepting reservations for her living-room. :-P
Unfortunately she'll be away for several days, meeting with her friends and family in northern Germany and not always being reachable to discuss this.

Meeting at Lindau sounds good again, that is if you don't mind picking us up. Just finding out about pricing for international train tickets is a royal pain in the ass.
(Not to mention there's a direct railway connection to Lindau starting at my very doorstep!)
'Yeah, That's what Jesus would do. Jesus would bomb Afghanistan. Yeah.' - snowlion
as mentioned - I could provide a car, too.
Just out of curiosity (for now), what kind of car is it?
So far it looks as if we're 5 people at Lindau (me=driver, you, Jaz, Ettena(?), ginsterbusch) and at least 2 more during the meeting (Orchid, MrCrash, maybe Magicdead?). So far we should be able to provide transportation to everybody, but if more people participate - or if we decide to split up during the meeting for a couple of hours - we might need another car.
Mail: Jaz, do you think we should spam the European NAOees like last time?

It didn't really help a lot last time, did it? Let's just save ourselves the trouble - I think everyone in our target audience should have stumbled over the various meeting threads by now.

Just out of curiosity (for now), what kind of car is it?
Fiat Punto (my own). Three seats (+ driver) available for international - four for intra-swiss transportation :-)
So, driving would be fine with me, but if the others prefer the train, I'd go by train, too.
'Repent, Harlequin!' said the Ticktockman. 'Get stuffed!' the Harlequin replied, sneering.
Weird, i replied to this post, but somehow, I don't see my reply anymore (I'm sure i saw it)
well, I think I'm coming too, and if I come it'll be by train, 16:00 leaving at Schaffhausen, arriving at about 18:30
don't remember what I wrote last time....too lazy to write more.
if anyone has questions, talk to me on ICQ (99047444)
next time you could do it at my place. there's always plenty enough space (20 ppl+)
