This poem is dedicated to my family which are thousands of miles from me right now in the United States. Written 3 January 2004.
Fifteen Thousand Miles From
fifteen thousand miles from,
a life, a family and feelings of,
a place in which I'd rather be,
to live, to smile, to run free
a secret that's only real to me,
a chest of treasure waiting to be free,
and found and held and kept so close,
to be loved as freely spoken prose,
a gem, a ring a piece of gold,
a legend waiting to be told,
a single daisy growing in a field of grass,
as each moment seems to pass,
I carry my love and feelings near,
as closely guarded as a sheded tear,
I know I'll see them soon enough,
I know it's not easy, life is tough,
my love will remain and be true,
as cold chills the skin through and through.
