I need songs.

97% | 3

I need some more stuff to sing. I'm an alto - my range is from the G below middle C to two G's above it. give or take a couple of notes of course depending on how each note is approached.

Singing keeps me sane. I need songs. I like jazz (both trad and bluesy stuff) I'm not a big fan of RnB style things, but i do quite like things with a gospel feel to them. I also sing alot of ballady things...but nothing with that "popstar whine". i detest that whine.

any suggestions would be great. Im pretty open to most styles so just chuck stuff at me!

Have you ever heard Fiona Apple? She has a low voice, and her music is kind of jazzy. I would suggest "Pale September" by her. It's really slow and your voice could do it justice, I'm sure. :)

For my next trick, I shall make you all disappear.

Hmm...It would depend on what kind of voice you have. For example, are you a Norah Jones or an Aretha Franklin? That might be interesting...

What you want?
Baby, I got it.
What you need?
You know I got it.
All I'm asking is for a little Respect...

Etc...I might be able to think of something. Then again, I got a little out-of-control typing the words to "Respect" up there. Oh well. I'll keep thinkin'.

This Loneliness won't leave me alone.

Oh I'm multi-talented ;)

I can do both. two songs i just completed were "Autumn Leaves" and "route 66" if that gives you an idea. Also done stuff like "Hey Big Spender" and "The way you look tonight" and "summertime"...so yeah, i have a pretty good range :)

Oh, i'll have to have a look at Respect, there's one i havent pulled out in a few years. Oh yes, i love the entire score of The Blues Brothers. What an awesome movie :D

Hmmm...
I don't know if this is exactly what you're looking for, but give these a shot (it's good music anyways...) ;)

Shirley Bassey - Diamonds Are Forever
Sam Brown - Stop!
Carol Kenyon - I Put A Spell On You
Doris Day - Dream A Little Dream Of Me
Tracy Chapman - Talkin' Bout A Revolution
Bjork - Joga (great voice!)

Bonus Track :) :
Urban Species - Blanket (very mellow)

If you have trouble finding any of these, drop me a mail.

BTW: Ever heard Bobby McFerrin & Chick Corea's live version of "Autumn Leaves"?

That makes me a sa-a-a-a-a-ad Panda...

Not quite sure if it's the type of song you're looking for, but it's a really good one. Great lyrics too.

Cowboy Bebop OST: Future Blues - Gotta Knock A Little Harder

It's got a great jazz/gospel sound to it. I could see Aretha singin it.
