Winamp for Mac

I'm again not very well handling with mac. Today I downloaded the new Winamp player. This is what it says when I want to open it: "Das Dokument konnte nicht geöffnet werden, da das Programm, mit dem es erstellt wurde, nicht gefunden werden konnte." (The document couldn't open because the program with which it was made couldn't be found). Anyone got an idea what went wrong?

Another question: Is there a possibility to go straight to desktop on mac? I always have to reduce every window so that I can see at least some area on my desktop.

Thanks!

"Das Dokument konnte nicht geöffnet werden, da das Programm, mit dem es erstellt wurde, nicht gefunden werden konnte."

This means that the file wants to be opened with a program you don't have installed. What is the exact file name? (If it ends in ".sit", you'll need StuffIt Expander.)

Is there a possibility to go straight to desktop on mac?

Try this (make sure you change to Finder first):

Re: Winamp for Mac

I'm afraid Winamp is not going to run on your Macintosh at all. Macs can not natively run applications written for Windows and vice versa.

Re: Winamp for Mac

You can of course use VirtualPC and a Windows partition to run apps like WinAmp, however.

Re: Winamp for Mac

Ooh, you've downloaded a Windows program! No wonder it doesn't work.
(Seeing that you talk about Winamp should have rung a bell, but I automatically thought there'd be a Mac version of it... oh well)
You probably want to try Macamp.

Re: Winamp for Mac

Also I have a way to go straight to the desktop. If you are running OSX Panther (10.3.*) then all you have to do is click F11 and all the other windows will clear so you can see and use the desktop. Really comes in handy.

Re: Winamp for Mac

Get MacAmp Lite. It was payware, but the developer went under, so it's free now. To register it, see this screenshoot.

iTunes should be able to do most anything you want. I use MacAmp mainly to listen to SHN and flac files.

Works for me. Make sure you have the latest free version of Stuffit Expander.
