Wasting away

93% | 3

Another night at the end of the weekend (we luckily get "Better Monday" or whatever this is off), and I've yet to do anything valuable with my time. My conscience is consciousness and Jeff Buckley breathing down my neck, begging "yeah, what have you done?" My solution is simple, suspended in pill-form, a demon in disguise and a djinn needling at my mind: caffeine. Sweet salvation in a bitter pill: No-Doz. 200 mg of caffeine, supposedly crystallized and imprisoned in a pill from the run-off of the process that decaffeinates Folger's coffee.

Down the hatch.

Totally intrigued by your coffee-pill

I am not sure if I am reading u correctly: Coffee in a pill?

Brilliant. I need to get this. This is efficiency at its best. Is it a new product? Do u get this from the pharmacies or supermarkets? How many cups of coffee can u replace with one pill? In an extended week of work, I need abt 5 cups to allow me to work thru the day with no sleep. Battling with my sch’s faulty dispensing machines when u need the coffee instantly is annoying (and not being able to just gulp down the hot drink is annoying too). This pill will be so perfect! Actually in my ideal world, I would love to conduct most things in a pill-form: sleep, food, drink, traveling time, criticisms etc. Just one pop and go.

(Sigh... just one more unhappy session next wk and I can officially start "wasting away" like u too! So looking fwd to it!)

I once bought caffeine pills back when I was doing my military service. It helped you stay awake during long night watches after a day-long march.

Pharmacies over here.

Depends on the size of the pills, but: A lot. It's creepy how much caffeine fits into some of these.

Some brands are more concentrated than others, the pharmacist will probably ask you which dose you would like to have.

Don't tell me you didn't know this exists??

Even better, there's also caffeinated chewing gum, and the guys at ThinkGeek have a whole lot of caffeine goodness!

ThinkGeek

Ah. No wonder I'm so "old economy" with my knowledge of caffeine, I failed my geek qualifications ;) .

Well, what I use is Extra-Strength No-Doz, which is 200 mg of caffeine in one pill. This is maybe two and a half cups of weaker coffee, but it's also all at once, so it strikes harder. For that matter, make sure it won't interfere with any other medication you might be taking. I took a No-Doz with something else, and I zoned out (fully awake, but completely shut off to any non-visual sensory input) for two and a half hours. I missed one whole class and part of another one.

that actually sounds like if you had known that was going to happen, it might be an interesting experience.

Re: Totally intrigued by your coffee-pill

It's not really interesting, though. I just looked up and two and a half hours had passed in what felt like somewhere between 8 and 12 minutes.

Exactly. This is what I fear. After I posted my 1st reply to you, I realised that the coffee-pill still doesn't solve my problem. I need 5 cups, but not all at one go, rather in parts throughout the day. Once, I was rather lazy and decided to sit by my vending machine to drink 3 blacks at one go (so that I didn't have to keep going up and down the stairs thru out the nite). I was awake but my hands shook too badly for me to cut my cardboard properly and had to drink milk to "counter" the effects. Kinda defeats the purpose.
