Here is my situation. My brother recently gave me his limegreen Imac with OS 8.6. I Bought OS x and this is what i need to know. My brother has some important documents on the HD that he'd like me to keep. I need to know if i install OS x will it cleen sweep my HD? Assuming that it will, Imac's dont have a floppy drive so i have no way of backing up the HD. So will it or will it not delete everything on the HD? Thanks!

The files can be stored on servers. Ultrahost.com lets you have free hosting, you have unlimited space just a file can't be over 1mb.
I have very easily entered situations where data that I would like to keep exceeds this 1MB limit. As a result, it requires splitting the information into multiple files (and most FTP-style programs aren't really designed for transferring multiple files transparently.)
The proper way to backup files on a MAC is to use a USB portable hard drive - the highest capacity of those drives of that class are available at Pocketec, but they only appear to be available in the US. Smaller USB portable flash drives are easily available on the local reatil store, with sizes usually ranging between 64MB and 256MB.
And since the Mac is being used, the IPod can easily be used as a portable 5GB Firewire/USB harddrive.
