Halo 2 is going to consume me

?% | 1

The raving of an obsessive Halo fan follows.

"Halo 2 is a lot like Halo 1, only it's Halo 1 on fire, going 130 miles per hour through a hospital zone, being chased by helicopters and ninjas ... And, the ninjas are all on fire, too"

Please do yourself a favour and check out these 9 minutes of live Halo 2 footage from last year's E3. Now tell me this game isn't going to be The Game To End All Games.

How can you not love everything about Halo. I love the way it tells its story and I love the hero's place in the plot. And as trashy as large parts of Nylund's two Halo novels might be, they add so much depth to the places and characters of Halo that they are very much worth reading.

In fact I might go so far as to say that the books are a major reason for my obsession with Halo. They make you care about the plot and the protagonist. You're looking at all the little details and plot elements they built into the game and you're thinking: "Boy would it suck if you hadn't read the books and didn't know why that thing is in here". We all know these novels where you wish you could just live the action. With Halo you can do just that, and it's not a flat, unimpressive affair but a truly immersive and soul consuming experience.

Re: Halo 2 is going to consume me

I liked the first book best.

I actually thought it was well written.

The second book I only like cause it is halo. But it was poor quality. IMHO.

The third book with once again be written by the original author.

Also i haven't found it yet, but my brother saw some Multiplayer footage. Said it was increadible.

Also the interactive scenery was remarkable. For example you shoow a rocket at a wall and pillars crumble down.

You can blow wings off of ghosts.

Also hub caps fly off of the Warthog. Personally I thought in the future they would use RIMS!

Either way the game is suppose to have whats great about halo, and multiply it by 10.

Need I remind everyone that a magazine from a year ago, that showed the first screenshots of Halo 2. Stated on the cover, simply "Best Graphics Ever!".

Means best graphical game ever. Says a lot about the xbox.

But being that the PS2 proc is original, as we see throughout PS Ones lifespan. Games learn to utilize it more and more as they make them.

I belive sonys GPU is the most dynamic.

Either way, Halo 2 might not be the game to end all games. But it will make me buy a xbox again.

My brother preordered the game 2 months after halo came out.

Funny Huh.

Yah, that trailer is great, and combining that with the excellence that is Halo gives you every reason to believe Halo 2 will be monumentally fabulous. I like the news weapons, like the re-tooled sniper rifle and the handheld submachine guns. I also loved the seamless flow from action to cutscene and back. Last, the parts where you're a gunner on the rhino and then hijack that covenant ship look really promising.

I wish they would hurry up the release. I was expecting MS's acquisition of Bungie to speed things up as far as development time goes.

I haven't read the books, but I think the plot of the game is strong enough to garner plenty of interest. I actually care about the characters in the game due to the plot and the realism of the game itself.

2 looks to bring all that to another level.

The books help to understand how much humanity fights with their backs against the wall in their war against the Convenant. And as the first book tells the Master Chief's story from the time he was four years old, it makes you realize what a badass dude this guy really is.

The Fall of Reach might be a bit trashy around the edges, but features the best space battles to ever appear in a book.

Re: Halo 2 is going to consume me

I agree with that...

The first book though, by far featured the master cheif with all his struggles.

You wont thinking being made into a supper soldier would be a struggle.

I would think of a supper soldier as a Master Chef...
