More news about my life which you don't really have to care about. :-)

Yesterday was August 1st, Swiss national holiday. We had a barbeque-like family gathering at my mother's place and blew up lots of fireworks. Some unknown genius in the neighborhood managed to hit my car with not one, but two big-ass rockets. As a result my car is now plus a small dent in the bonnet (not that I'd mind that too terribly much) and minus a roof window. Wonderful. But apart from that, it was fun - we had, like, ten years' worth of exploding stuff and tons of food.

In other news, in 16 1/2 days it's throw-Orchid-into-the-pool time again! Summer finally has us in a tight grip of suffocating heat and merciless sunshine, and I'm really looking forward to spending a bunch of days in the shadow next to a distant hotel's pool.

Current computer-related project: Building an Internet-enabled version of the Cheapass Games classic Kill Dr. Lucky. So far it's going pretty well, altho it's far more complicated than I originally assumed it to be. Nevertheless all the basics are already done - what's left now is converting the game rules into machine-readable code.

I am sorry to hear about your car null. But, glad to hear you had fun!!!

Thanks. :-) Well there's a reason I've got myself a father-in-law who runs a garage, so at least financially it could be far worse. I guess I won't park the car outside again next year!

I already informed my father, so he'll probably soon get you a new window. I hope a call to the assurance will bring out more. :)

I can hardly wait till 19th of august. I'm luckier the closer the date comes :) Finally it's splash-null-from-his-deckchair-time again. Plus: Wonderful nights with wine and the sound of the sea on the balcony with looong talks, walks on the beach and don't mention the food! ;)

Well, I figured it was an accident the first time (#25007). But when you did it again, I thought it must have been on purpose... which did not make sense... :p

Well well well, after a short rainstorm period the sun is back and seems to be determined to make up for the rainy days.

My Kill Dr. Lucky program seems to make great progress, which is a pleasant surprise. It still looks kinda ugly, but the actual game mechanism is practically finished. What's lacking is a bunch of test players, but I'm sure I'll find a few vict^H^H^H^Hvolunteers. :-)

I tried out the quiz and quickly filled in every slot with something I pulled out of my ass just to see where it's going to lead to. And then it didn't even give me the results because I didn't enter an email address! I want sixty seconds of my life back!
