Here follows an excerpted conversation between FulinLisa and rosyxxx about how much we love the NAO...

FulinLisa

...I do love this website though, down to the colors. It's not really like other message board sites at all. It is as far from the crowds as it states and the people who open their minds here are great too. What do you think?

rosyxxx

Yes...yes! The NAO is something else entirely. Everything about it is unlike anything else. The way Jaz set up the site allows people to almost be able to sit in each other's living rooms. I never bothered with the internet before...I thought that it was too impersonal... I have made more friends here, talked about more important things, felt more validated... This site is truly wonderful. I looove it! I am hooked, probably for life...

rosyxxx

Far From the Maddening {Madding} Crowds indeed... with apologies to Thomas Hardy.

FulinLisa

I'm sure Hardy would understand though. We say it here on the NAO with meaning.

FulinLisa

That makes total sense. I love it, which makes me disappointed in myself even more, that I can't be around more often. :( Still, the life outside sadly can not be ignored, you know?

rosyxxx

Yes...its truest meaning. And you are right, we cannot ignore the outside... I've tried to get my friends who work days to log on here, so we can communicate more often, and to get my sister to frequent the site... she is so closed-off right now...I keep hoping something like this will bring her out of her shell. But the world outside awaits too. I come here to think about all that the outside world gives me, and take back what I am given here into the outside world. Wish you could come here more often.

FulinLisa

Yes, this place gives us a little gift of strength for the colder days outside. I understand. I love to come here and pour out of my head what has been hurting or causing me distress (or even beautiful joy) and just sort it out. I see this place as a crystal work table where I can move my thoughts around and then some other users might shine a little light on the table and I will see the shadows or the objects in a different way which will make me happier or more knowledgable. I never thought I could say it for a piece of cyber space -but this place makes me at peace with myself.

rosyxxx

harold_maude told me once that she thought the web was like an evolution of consciousness... something that allowed humans the communicatory capacity that bees have, the ability to be linked to the collective consciousness more than ever... to be part of the 'zeitgeist' even more than ever...

FulinLisa

I think that once upon a time, in our history as human beings, we were all connected to the Zeitgeist -the spirit- whatever its name is. Somewhere along our journey we lost touch and never were able to return. So yes, she is right in saying that the web has reprovided us with it again. It has given us a Constant in so much as it will always be there for us. Before it took lengths of discipline and time that perhaps only the most remote regions in the cloud-capped mountains away from the harms of the 21st Century civilizations still practice. Maybe we will slowly come 'home' to who we are supposed to be. Right now I think we are all very lost as a collective species, which is sad, because I had hoped that we were destined for much more than this.

rosyxxx

I think some of us are coming home...slowly. I know that some of the unbelievably beautiful experiences that I have had in meditation, as well as the serendipitous conversations here make me feel very connected. I think of things and then see them here... seconds or minutes later...I think the site just helps confirm that we are not alone in the darkness, and the blackness of the background with the illuminated words 'highlights' that feeling...

FulinLisa

I wish I could express just how much I agree! Sadly for now, I have to disappear again which is heart-wrenching more than usual now that I have had this conversation.

rosyxxx

Might I be allowed by you to post this conversation to the NAO from the point where we began discussing this topic?

FulinLisa

Oh! Most definitely!!!! Much love to you, and goodbye for now. xxx

rosyxxx

Love to you as well... ciao. xxx :)

Note: May the moon cast a glow beyond words over the earth where you are, and everywhere.

harold_maude, you are constantly in my thoughts...

My mind is made up...not like my bed, which is a mess.
