WLAN refuses to reconnect after standby

Ever since I switched the wireless network over here to WPA encryption, my notebook has difficulties reconnecting when it wakes up from standby. I receive the network ID as I should, but the software locks up while trying to obtain an address via DHCP.

I have to reboot my (SMC) router to be able to reconnect. Any ideas?

How does WPA work? Does it update it's encryption methods every so often?

I should be ashamed of myself.

The protocol allows to renogatiate keys on a regular basis, yes.

Would it, for some reason, renegotiate the key without the computer knowing? Perhaps standby doesnt "tell" this service it's going down? yeah, I'm only offering what seems to be an idea. I'm researching the subject now...

No, the rekeying is disabled.

The problem magically goes away when I tell my laptop to not unpower the card when it goes down. I have no idea why this is supposed to make any difference while Windows is suspended to disk (all power is off), but apparently it does.

Hmm...

Glad you found a solution. I'm still under the impression that when the connection is lost via standby, a certain amount of communication is being forgotten...

But what is it?

I should be ashamed of myself.
