Well, I finally did it. I managed a fully functional computer within the confines of linux. Furthermore, this is with recent hardware as listed here.

The hardware is yeilding great results in the scantly informative but oddly reassuring benchmark GLXGEARS. So far, my highest rating was somewhere in the range of 14500 and the lowest was 11500. this is of course assuming I don't count the times the CPU was getting chewed up by some random compile. This machine is super fast when it comes to gaming, and linux does not change that.

I'm so happy. So, what does everyone elses computer yeild them in GLXgears?

Here is what mine says...

Oh well. What would I do with OpenGL on a 400mhz Celeron anyway.. Ho hum...

Nah, I'd reach for the Xbox or PS2 and play those before I'd waste time trying to configure a game on Linux.
