I've always asked myself, how can anybody possibly love the taste of this stuff? What's wrong with the Aussies?
Today I've read this on the Vegemite homepage:
In 1922, a Melbourne man called Fred Walker had the bright idea of using yeast extract left over from the manufacture of beer to create a [...] tasty new spread that every Australian will grow up with.
All of a sudden it all seems much clearer.

Well, surely it doesn't LOOK so bad. But my question is "What does that taste like"? From the picture, it looks like plum marmelade, but then... I might be wrong.
So now, I am pretty curious about its taste. Anybody out there can define it for me? Surely in Italy I can't find it anywhere :P
