My Company!

Yes, it's true. They can be real cool sometimes. They have booked the whole theatre tomorrow and have arranged for the free showing of Star Wars E2.

That saves me from the dilemma of whether I shall go to see the first show of it tonight (at midnight). Now, I can sleep well, and see the *free* show at noon tomorrow.

Well, wait, there is a catch, you can not take anyone else alongwith you, and I had already made plans to watch the movie with my buddies. Hmmm, what shall I do? Shall I dump the guys and watch the free show? Or, shall I watch the movie with them at midnight, tonight?

Well, maybe I will watch both the shows..:)

Re: My Company!

Just now got my tickets for tonight's show. In 5 hours from now, I would be in the hands of lucas and jar-jar! god save me!

While I was walking into Lucas' trap and buying my tickets for tonight, I saw this huge line of people camping outside the theatre, for the last week or so! People can be so crazy. At least I am not like them. :) I will only watch the movie tonight (alone), tomorrow at noon (with colleagues), and then tomorrow evening (with friends), and then a few times over the weekend.

One should have some passion in life for some things.

I'd vote for none of the two..

I'd vote for both, and then all the other cinemas in your town, or the whole state. And when you're done, start over.

I just can't believe you're not going to see it. I can't believe you didn't see Lord of the Rings. You're depriving your life of all fun. After a full decade of crappy movies humanity finally learned to make good movies again and all you want to do is boycotting them. Don't! Go in there and get blown away. That's all what movies are about.

Hopefully E2 will still be on screen when I visit you in 7, 8 weeks cause I'm going to drag you in there.

<nice you are talking abot me>

Come on! Its my alltime favourite book, I read it (all!) countless times, even in english. Believe you me, I got my own world before my eyes when I think about it or read it, and a lot of the fascination is made just from this my imagination. And I wont let anybody destroy this my very own picture running in my head, not at all by a bad made movie, that even changed the story on essential parts. This movie is a crime, and still, even if it was made better, there is simply no chance to bring a monster book like this on the screen, it MUST be crap, always!
Imagine people sitting in cinemas chewing popcorn and drinking coke while Frodo decides to leave his home, everything he ever knew behind! Its like donating the pope a night at a brothel! Thank you, dont need it!

Yeah, I love that book too! But I still think the film is great.

Anybody who has ever read a book and then watched the movie knows that there are differences. 998 out of 1000 people will tell you that the book is better.
There are things a movie just can't provide - most of all all the small details which appeal to your imagination and let you build your own world around the story. A film can't have the depth of a book by design. I mean, how long would this darn thing be if it told the story exactly the way the book does? You can't do that, and even if you could, nobody - not even the greatest fan - would go and watch a 500-hours film!

There are differences between the books and the film's storyline. The Hobbits' first journey with Strider is much shorter than in the book (to name just one example), and (to be honest) that love story between Strider and Arwen is not really a masterpiece.

Still I think it's a great movie. In no way can it replace the book, but hey, why should it even try? It's not meant to! It has its own magic, not interfering with the book's world but actually enhancing it.
Tolkien's saga is a fantastic story, and both the book and the film tell the same story in two different ways. There's no reason why the both should mutually exclude each other.

You know what, I think I'm gonna send you that thing on CD and wait. :-)

But it *does* try! It *is* meant to replace the book, and tell you what, it works! This beautiful story is crippled on purpose, shortened into small, inaccurate pieces just to satisfy the common viewers needs. I know lots of people who made it through the first of the three books and said "wow, great book" but never made it through book II. For all these people the movie was made. Easy to consume, just a piece of fast-food, no need to think about it, enjoy it, have fun, 'pheeww what a loooong movie' , 'next!'....
And "enhancing" something got a different meaning to me but what was done to the book and JRRT. This word implies to add something to the original, make it somewhat better. If you mean wrong storylines, okay, you're right, but thats not exactly what I understand about "enhancing". No, I cant see any enhancements, but then again maybe its just because I didn't see it. :-)

You know what, I think I'm gonna send you that thing on CD and wait.

D'you mean DVD or Audio? Got it on Audio-CD! ;-)
Thx anyway!

If I think about it and let nobody know what I think, maybe - and I said MAYBE - you might be right! But I cant jump my own shadow! Somehow I always/often feel the need to be different than everybody else. I dont wonna be a... mmh what is it... cant even name it... just another nameless face in the crowd maybe. Dont know. So the more there is hype for whatever it is, movie, album, food, politics, opinions, attitudes, whatever you can think of, you'll about never find me on the majority's side. And sometimes, in moments like this, I doubt its really my true belief, but just a kinda constrained behavior, whereever it comes from...
<slipping back>
You must be kidding, boy! Leave me alone with this pile of cow poo! Its just painful to see the whole world going crazy about 120 min of flickering coloured pictures. And this is not about having fun or not anymore, its just collective madness. No, I never found anything thrilling about SW, and this wont change whatever you say or do!
