The avatar game

73% | 4

So we already had The Name Game, also I've finally made the decision to change my avatar image, so why not? Why did you choose the avatar you're using right now?

I'll start first. The one I've been using before was choosen because of my nick name, which you can find out more in above mentioned thread. My new, current one I've chosen because, like I said, it was time for a change, but also, because I like to see my rather nice, colored up (ie. corpsepainted) face someplace else, not just on my HDD, where all those nice shots reside.

BTW: This is the picture I've been using as a base for my nice avatar image:

cp12.jpg

For those who are interested in the backgrounds of this mysterious thing called 'corpsepaint', I've packed some URLs together:

- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corpsepaint - English Wikipedia doesnt quite get the nack ..
- http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corpsepaint - .. but the German one does!
- http://www.blackmetal.co.uk/Forums/viewtopic/t=4565.html - some nice thread about this topic

My avatar originated from a few of my pager conversations with rosy. Actually, lemme rephrase that, my conversations that we had, and I was in a fun mood during. See, when I'm in a fun mood and I'm talking to rosy, I tend to send pics that are some how related to what I'm saying, for example:

god, I'm so tired...

tired-kitten.jpg

Is one such example. And at the time, I had already retired my sniper kitten. God that avatar owned. So, I migrated to another kitten then this one. The latest is my favourte so far, look at it! So curious, so inquiring, so devilish. SO CUTE! God, that made me sound fruity...

Yeah, as you can tell, I am a cat person.

I should be ashamed of myself.

Re: Rosyxxx made me do it! Honest!

Ha ha! You are so funny with your 'kitty pics'. You always make me laugh when I am sad and when I am upset. You just have a nack for it... and this pic is no exception. It reminds me of our cat 'marshmallow' who used to sleep in the food dish so he could wake up and start eating again. Boy, he was a fat cat!

My avatar used to be the little 'elf girl' here on the choices NAO gives... then I wanted a 'toon' of some sort, but couldn't figure out how to get the .gif files to the right size. I may write well, but I am an idiot when it comes to computers and downloading images. A case in point would be below.

Null picked out a couple and sent them, and when they arrived over here in the US, they somehow unformated themselves... so Aynjell fixed 'em up and I spent some time deciding between a cartoon girl hugging a dragon, and the one that I have now. I think the pink hair fits my name really well... and she is kind of an accurate representation... except for the pink hair. I am a big kid, so my avatar conveys the truth.

I think this is the original sheet that null sent me:

Re: The avatar game

My avatar came about because I was messin' about in Photoshop in search of a minimalistic, yet vaguely interesting looking avatar sporting my alias. My current avatar was the end result. I also made a mint green/white bg for the live journal I don't ever write in.

Re: The avatar game

Well, my avatars never really took the cake, so... My first NAO-avatar was a picture of Gilian Andersen. Some may remember she played agent Scully in x-files, which I really loved to watch. And I thought she's one of the most beautiful women I know. So... But she had to play that x-files role so that I could in some way identify myself with her.
Then, I changed it because sometimes you have to change your avatar, don't you. LOTR was quite popular that time and I loved it and of course I liked the story of Arwenn and think Liv Tyler is gorgeous. Yeah, if you analyze that, you'll probably come to the result that I hope I'll get more beautiful if I decorate myself with pictures of beautiful women :P
Anyway, I'd never use a picture of myself as an avatar.

Re: The avatar game

My avatar was a photoshop experiment. At the time I was into Angry Blue brushes and doing grunge stuff, so I made this icon and said "Hey thats cool" and now use it everywhere. I'm thinking a change is in the works though.

Re: The avatar game

For some reason the dust mite just said hello to me, it fit to what I was looking for in the panel and I wasnt in the mood to make an avatar (which I will, a decent one that really represents me in the not so distant future). And suzie (from C&H) was already taken by Eliza. =)

Mines been the same for about two and a half years. I like Calvin and Hobbes; I think Calvin is somewhat appropriate for me. On account of his arrogance and what not.

I alternate between Slick from Sinfest and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac (that latter I've used for quite a while now, because I've been too lazy to fill in the transparent backgrounds of the Slick avatar I made months ago). I go with Johnny because we share a name, and slick because I spike my hair and his kinda reminds me of my own.

Re: The avatar game

My last four avatars were made by me. They are all pictures of me (photoshopped, obviously), and in fact, all of the pictures were taken by me with a dinky little cheap digital camera that came along free with my computer desk.

If I had a transition pic between the chicken and self-made, I don't remember what it was. When you explore old topics while not logged in, you get to see all your old ranks and taglines, but a lot of the old avatars are missing. :/

But I can't find no place or nothin', where thrills are cheap, and love is divine

I wish there were more avatars to choose from or maybe some kind of website where you could choose. I don't really like my avatar, I'm tired of it but I don't like any of the other ones.

Re: Avatar game

You could always create your own avatar based on any picture you like... or if you can't, kindly ask one of the technically versed NAOees and they'll probably help you with it.

Send me an email (you should be able to do it through my profile) and I can use my uber photoshopping skills (well, perhaps not so uber, but I like to pretend) and fashion you an avatar to your specifications.

C'est moi. Well, not exactly, of course– it's a drawing of me done by a friend.

I've had several people ask me if that's what I really look like, to which I can only reply,

"Yes... except that I'm three-dimensional and in color."

The Japanese characters on the right are just my name, Rachel (Reicheru) in katakana.

Not terribly exciting, but sufficient.
