Music = Outlet

60% | 3

I am in love with music. I could sit around all day writing lyrics, playing guitar, reading lyrics, listening to music, dancing to music, playing the flute, singing, watching music videos. Music is such an influential part of my life. When I'm sad it can cheer me up or enhance the mood. Same goes for when I'm happy. It lets me express myself. I used to have a cutting problem but then I learned to use music as a release. It really helps alot. When I want to cut I just go in my room turn on some Zao (Metal) and thrash out (jump around, bang head, scream) for a while. Then I feel all better! :) Music can also be used as a way to get a message across. Thats why I love it so much. It is so flexible. You have no boundaries. You can make it however you want. No one can tell you what is good or what isn't because you have the ability to judge it yourself. Different people have different tastes. That's why I get mad when people say "that band sucks" because yes there are bands that arn't very good but don't say that they suck just because you don't like the style.

Re: Music = Outlet

So the end of that post came out totally wrong. What I meant is how people make fun of Avril Lavigne and say she sucks. Personally she is not my style. It doesn't mean she sucks just because you I don't like her music. She obviously had enough talent to get as far as she did. The appropriate thing I think people should say is I'm not into her music.

Re: Music = Outlet

I agree totally with everything you said in your post, especially with people saying some music sucks and what not. So what if youdon't like it, some people might. And if they are on the radio, have a cd out...etc then apperantly someone thought they were good.
Music is a good escape. My brother likes metal and is in a metal band. One of my brothers is into the whole punk rock stuff and also has a band. They are going to be going big in a while. They just recently changed their name from "Losing to Apathy" to "A Day Away". I personally think he has a better band but they are both really good. They have opened for a number of big bands and they are about to sign a deal. I can't wait for them to go big! It's gonna be so awesome and all the experiences will be sweet.
I have been exposed to many types of music. On a count of all 4 of my brothers likes a different type of music i listen to most of them all. I vary from rap to rock to classical to metal to just about everything in between. It does get a message through. I use certian songs to tell certian people how i'm feeling. I just burn a cd and on it i put songs for different moods. It's a lot better the way i am now that i've found my love for music than the way i was before!

A Day Away?

Are you guys from Springfield? I found a band called "A Day Away" on PureVolume, and they sound pretty damn cool. If these are the same guys as your brother's band, tell 'em they should come on down to Memphis some time. I'd love to see them do a show.

I'll believe in anything if you'll just believe in anything

Yeah we are actully from Kimberling City which is about 45 min. south from Springfield, but Springfield is the big town so we just say we are from Springfield. But they are doing lots of tours this summer. They got offered to be a profit band on Warped but they had to say no because they were already going to be somewhere touring. But they are in the process of listening to some new drumers because they aren't too happy with the one they have now. But yeah I like his band a lot and they play alot down here. Ha, they even did an edited version of their first cd they want to put out in my school. It was crazy, but it was so awesome. But he might be going down there this summer, I'm not for sure though. They have a website called
www.losingtoapathy.com
Here, you'll get some recent news about them and another site.(it kinda sucks but yeah) they are a powerpop/post hardcore/emo kind of band. They are awesome. You can also listen to some of their music, i would recomend them to people. TELL YOUR FRIENDS!
