Blackholes

What is a blackhole...really? I've heard so many different views upon the therory of a blackhole. I've heard the fact that its a time warp. But, time is nothing but a therory or a perseption of mankind. I'm more or less just asking how its possible to create a rift in some thing thats only a perseption and not actual matter. Please someone help me out here.

Why do you say that time is nothing more than a perception of mankind? Time is not just a perception, it is a dimension of the universe. I do not believe that Black Holes are a time warp, instead I believe they are simply extremely dense forms of stars long burnt out which suck in all things around them and drown out the light.

that's just my .02

Re: Blackholes

Ok so you say it is nothing but a large gravitational pull. Where would this gravitational pull exert all the matter is absorbs? If it were a true void it would have to have somewhere to store the matter. That is unless it was possible that the black hole would, through the gravity, pull apart the atoms of the object somehow and recycle them back. But then space would no longer be a vacuum and have excess atoms in space. Now that im done rambling on about that, where the heck does all the matter pulled into the hole then go? If it just stored it then the hole itself would be filled eventually...true? I don’t know...this whole black hole thing just doesn’t make sence to me. If anyone could better explain this hole thing to me i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks :-D

Re: Blackholes

A black hole is not just a gravitation pull. A Black hole is a very massive star that collapsed under it's own "weight" down into a small enough size to be inside the Schwartzchild radius. That means if the earth collapsed under it own weight, it would be about the size of a basketball. When this happens, the matter/mass is compressed so densely that it creates a magnet pull/field that is so strong that not even light can escape. As this now denser than dense mass is pulling other matter to its core, it begins to grow in size. How fast? we dont know. How big can they get? we dont know. Why dont we know? because light cant escape from a black hole, so you cant see it. In order to see something, light has to reflect off of that object. Light can not be reflected off a black hole, so you cant find the surface, or the edge to start a measurment with. OK, why use light, why not us a magnetic spectrograph? Well if someone can stand up and say "That magnetic pattern of distortion is the edge of its own change" then you might be able to start a measurement from that point. But who is the authority that knows definitively how to tell where the edge of it is? That person doesnt exist. IF we had an expert that knew the facts without being able to measure them, then we wouldn't have these question.
