Overclocking

?% | 1

Okay guys...

It has been said that rhere is no "safe" overclocking of a CPU. Also, I'm quite aware that if not dealt with extreme care, it can have some lasting effects on the CPU, and more likely undesirable.

That being said, any thoughts or advice dealing with overclocking? I have my CPU overclocked (only overclocked, the voltage and FSB are untouched) to 2.42 (from 2.21) and it seems to be running quite stable.

I have yet to run my computer under high-load for an extended period but I intend to tonight. I bought UT2004 yesterday to satisfy some multiplayer challenges...

Overclocking! Thoughts? Ideas? Reccomendations?

I should be ashamed of myself.

I think you're new at oc but if you wanna learn sth you must read more forums www.xtremesystems.org its a really good site for oc'ing.
I have been overclocking pc since I bought my P4 2.0 northwood
ı had overclocked it to 2.9 and it was stable
now I have p4 2.4C Ht and overclocked it to 3.6 stable
if you computer resets or get slow down you can adjust your voltage of cpu not too much.
and if you want you can overclock your graphic card if your card is Ati you can use Ati Tools
or nvidia Riva Tuner you can find these at www.guru3d.com
when it becomes hobby of yours: ) you can get some modded bios

if you have problem send me a pm

Re: Overclocking

I got tired of limited option with my Asus board. It simply drove me nuts. I ordered up a DFI nF3, which should handle my overclocking needs nicely. I am going to have to get the skinny on how CPU overclocks work, but otherwise, I think I got the idea.

Overclocking my 6800 is simple, unlock, and clock it to 400/900. Though, I'm not sure how stable that is. I think I get best results at a slightly lower frequency...

I should be ashamed of myself.

Re: Overclocking

In 1999 (I think that was the year) I overclocked my Celeron 300 - 450 and it ran stable. That was a seriously good chip to overclock.

I flashed modded bios which gives 1.5v to gpu but is dangerous a bit: )

Re: Overclocking

Well yeah, that's what I use. So far, I haven't reached to much farther than 4200. What about you? I'm looking for an entirely stable overclocking. 376/900 is almost safe for benchmarking, but anything above that and I get stutters.

I should be ashamed of myself.
