Maybe this doesnt fall under Programming, im not sure.
Im having a problem figuring out this...
I have two computers i plan to use for a business venture im embarking on, they are connected to each other, i.e i can see folders on P.C 1 from P.C 2 and visa versa, what i want to do is have my outlook express mail account which is existant on P.C 1 able to be managable from both pcs, so if one person deletes a mail from the inbox, or moves it to a "dealt with folder" after dealing with it on P.C 1, the altercation takes affect on P.C 2 someone elses sitting in front off.
Therefore preventing the same mail being answered or dealt with twice, they would need to be hooked up together live. Is this posssible i wonder?
If anybody could share any help and guidance or knows where i might ascertain help you would be doing me a big favour as its quite important in order for our system to work most efficiently spreading the work amongst two people, me being a bit of a Technophobe im not sure how it all works. Cheers

Hmm, the way I see it it's not a trivial task. Setting it up so that the two computers share a data directory may be possible, but accessing the same mailbox at the same time - which I assume is what you want - is impossible for all I know. (Always remember, there's a reason why Outlook Express is 'free'.)
What you could do is set up the same IMAP account on both machines. I'm not too familiar with IMAP servers, but you might be able to find one that supports several concurrent connections to the same mailbox. Of course this would more or less require an in-house mail server - while your ISP might offer what you need, unless you have a really fast internet connection it will be painfully slow.
The Microsoft©™ solution would be to set up an Exchange server, install Outlook on both clients and point them to a shared inbox. This will work rather smooth, provided you have a couple grand left.
Can you give more details on the environment/infrastructure, and maybe possibilities to change it? E.g. whether there are any servers or other workstations, what operating system they run and what they're used for... Maybe there's an easier solution.

Both pc's are running on windows 2000, and they are inter-connected through a wire going to the reuter, basically were running a website dealing in cds, so on one p.c will be dreamweaver, photoshop, e.t.c
on the other p.c all that will be on it is qbase and other similiar music making programs, so basically there fresh computers, we wont be surfing the net on them, just keeping them strictly running the programs we need.
When it comes to the mailbox, we have seperate folders differant e-mails get dealt with and moved on to folder, not wanting to send the same cd out twice made me wonder about connecting a single mailbox.

It's a big topic, that. I'd first suggest dealing with the full version of Outlook, not OjE. It's supposed to work like this using M$ Exchange Server. There are also some solutions out there using a seperate file that gets shared between these two computers.
Further suggestion is: try searching for stuff like 'Work group', 'MS Exchange Server', 'Exchange Replacement', etc.
I havent done anything in this business since 2003, so I cant help you much with this anymore, but I hope this post does give you some faint clues. ;)
