I recently completed a really great book called "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris.
At first, it didn't draw me in, but I continued reading nonetheless. I am very glad I did! It is wonderfully entertaining and very well written. My only complaint is a sort of abrupt ending. It's worth the $7.50 I paid for it, though. Made me laugh out loud quite a few times.
I'm on the lookout for a new book to read. Anyone have any suggestions?
Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live.
I'd totally recommend two books:
Laura Esquivel's "Like Water for Chocolate"...the movie is even funnier, because it let's you see the visual equivalent of her buffoonery...
and...
"Bad Cats". It's not fiction, but rather, pictures of cats in compromising poses with hilarious captions. You will laugh so hard you will puke! ;P
My mind is made up...not like my bed, which is a mess.
I read "Me Talk Pretty One Day" - I didn't find it very funny, really. Just page after page of a man telling us how gay he is and detailing his bad life choices (drug addiction, failing to learn French while living in France, making bad art, etc).
A book that I actually laughed out loud reading was 'Good Omens' by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaimen. The Apocolypse with a funny bone.
Good Times.
