Gamers Dying While Gaming

That's right folks, all or at least some things totally rule in moderation but anything taken to extremes can lead to death. Even one of the things we need most: water Video Games.

Apparently, more than a day straight becomes hazardous to your health.

Oh yeah, I live on the edge. I've done more than 30+ hours of WoW before on multiple occasions.

I'm a risk taker, for sure. Reckless, that's me. A rebel.

It seems to be happening most in other countries. Maybe it's other things that they do, or maybe they do this 30+ hours stuff on a daily basis, who knows, eh? Perhaps something nutritional their bodies lack?

I should be ashamed of myself.

Anyone know what games these guys were playing??? Just curious..

I wonder if they were drinking those energy drinks like Red Bull etc... I remember when Run Like Hell was advertising a energy intense drink to consume while playing... It was supposed to bring up your heart-rate and intensify the game.

Might not be such a good idea (if, infact, these guys were drinking them while they died). They might have though, as something to keep them awake.

I'd like to get my hands on those games... But I would probably keep a stop watch around my neck.

I've got a few four-packs of Red Bull in my dorm, and I'm considering getting some nice caffeine loot from thinkgeek.com, like the Case O' Bawls or the Jolt Gum. Maybe some caffeinated soap?

Re: Gamers Dying While Gaming

Holy Cow! I must confess that years ago I played Pokemon for almost 32 hours straight...but that isn't exactly living on the edge...but maybe it is...

I suppose if I did Yoga for 86 hours straight or knitted for 86 hours straight that would be detrimental to my health. What about reading for 86 hours straight? Wait, I don't think I could do that without some kind of stimulant like NiQuE mentioned. Wow, they really advertised for people to drink Red Bull while playing, what was it... Run Like Hell? Maybe that combined with the fact that what your eyes see, your brain can perceive to be real, and given those games were about intense combat...well.

But still. Aynjell, you are right. Moderation in everything. I think I'll start setting timers for things...besides the food in the oven.

I wonder if this only happens with video games. Maybe also forums, coding, reading faqs etc etc...

Well you never know. It kind of freaked me out. I'm not gaming much and i don't use computer that long without getting some sleep. Yet still i use it a lot. I never knew it could be that bad.

I heard about people dying of overworking in japan, but that's more understandable.

When you deprive your body of everything it needs, it will get stronger, or perish. It will only get stronger when it's in small doses, and unfortunately, that's not what these people are doing.

I should be ashamed of myself.

In Korea, games are just as big a deal. They are HUGE. These people watch Starcraft tournaments on TV while they eat dinner. Over there the news probably isn't any different than hearing about a football player dying in the middle of a game :P
