charlie *** isn't happy...

Oops. Deleted my $PATH

Hello. This is kind of embarrassing, but...

I seem to have lost my $PATH while I was playing with my environment variables. :( Now I can't even use "su" or "halt", or "more".

And, I can't seem to find any good listings for an entire $PATH listing on the Net.

So, if someone (preferably someone with SuSE 9.2) would echo their $PATH and tell me what I should reset my path to, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks.

I have my path set to:

Users

/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/opt/bin

Root

/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin

Hope this helps...

My path for User is:

/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games

and for root:

/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin

although it's a debian based system (with x.org)

Mine's longer! :-P

Gentoo systems have more groups than most, for whatever reason and as such segrate various binaries into group appropriate folders:

/Usr/local/bin:
/Usr/bin:
/Bin:
/Opt/bin:
/Usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/gcc-bin/3.4.4:
/Opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.02/Bin:
/Opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.02/Jre/bin:
/Usr/games/bin

As you can see, games are installed into /usr/games/bin.

I should be ashamed of myself.
