.signature

?% | 1

I remember that once I changed my .signature and the new posts had the new .signature and the old ones had the old one. This time when I modified my .signature, all my posts (new and old) have the new .signature.

Jaz, have you changed anything, or the .signatures have always been like this? Just wondering, if I remember the above behaviour correctly, or was I looking at cached pages?

Personally, I would prefer the old posts to have the .signature that I had at the time I wrote the post. Can this be added in the preferences/settings if it was not there earlier?

Re: .signature

Frank is right. It seemed like a waste of diskspace as many posts are shorter than their signatures. And boy, I was online through the times when three page signatures where considered cool...

Re: .signature

I now understand the purpose of the change.

But, may I suggest one thing, can we at least keep a history of last 5 or 10 signatures in the personal settings. That way, depending on my mood, I can change my .signatures from my favourite list. This way all my posts will reflect the .signature which I like on that day. I have kind of lost my previous 2 signatures, and would have loved to switch back to them some other time. This won't take much space, and will serve my purpose too.

What do you say?

Re: .signature

Would a textfile on your desktop not fulfill the same purpose? :)

:)

/main reason: I am too lazy to keep track of them myself, and hence would have preferred if NAO would have done that for me. :)

/other reason: Moreover, since I can access NAO from different machines (office, home, friend's place - remember I am a world traveler), hence I would need to keep track of that text file at a location which I can access from everywhere, a purpose which NAO can fulfill easily for me!

I understand it would require a time-consuming effort from your side to program this not-so-important-feature, but you can probably push it down your TODO list, and implement it whenever you get time. It would really save me the headache of maintaining such a list myself.

have to agree with RCD
- anyway, THAT'S a feature i REALLY miss these days, no matter, if it's a mail program or a "simple" message board system!

-- just look at XP. setting up a textbased, but everytime selectable tagline was kinda fun (esp. the randomize function!).

integrate it. no other forum-system does have it. :D
