Problem with Firefox

Just today, the site has begun giving me problems. Everytime I try to log in, my firefox browser crashes. The problem does not seem to occur when using Netscape (as evidenced by my writing this post), and my Firefox seems to work fine for everything else. Just thought I would post this to see if anyone else is having a similar problem, or if it's just me.

It's probably just you - try erasing the FF cache or deactivate JavaScript / Java. If this doesnt help, it's probably one of your installed extensions that's making trouble - maybe you could post a short overview of your current FF config (extensions, plugins, etc.) including your connection and system, either by installing yet another extension called 'InfoLister' or by writing it down manually.

Hint: If you've got the 'MR Tech's Local Install'-extension, you may simply use Tools > My Config > Copy - Text (Clipboard) and paste it into your reply to this post. ;)

Personally, I've experienced only troubles with websites either with some JavaScript malfunction/oversized script, bloated Java applets or either TabMix or Adblock having difficulties, esp. last one when searching for ads to block during loading process.

Re: Problem with Firefox

Which version? I've been using FF here for years now and have not experienced this.

I have found a bug with FF 1.5, you cannot select text and hit the quote selected link, it doesn't work with 1.5.

Re: Problem with Firefox

I recently updated to 1.5. Also, I have compiled the list of my current installed extension and the like, they are listed at http://www.geocities.com/ff.htm

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Problem with Firefox

It's probably one of the 80 extensions you have loaded, haha... Do you use all of those? That is quite an amazing array of extensions you have there. I use Adblock and that's about it.

Re: Problem with Firefox

Yes, I do use all of them, and I believe I found the problem. It was arising from NAO (and then I discovered a couple other sites) when they tried to open pop-up windows. (i.e. pager window, confirmation windows, etc.) Once I realized this, I uninstalled 'Disable Target for Downloads', and all seems back to normal. Now I just have to go get my AJAX for Yahoo Viewer back and some other choice extensions. I realzie that it is a lot to have, but it is the reason I use FF, it allows me to customize my surfing and not have to deal with some of the annoyance on the web.

Re: Problem with Firefox

Ok, I thought I had solved the problem, and I indeed have. I was just wrong about the extension. It seems it is my SessionSaver extension that has the problem. I am going to try reinstalling 'Disable Target For Downloads' as verification of this new idea. If I turn out to be again wrong, I will update it accordingly. I also plan to report it to the author of the extension with the hope that they can fix it in later versions.

Firefox, to my limited knowledge is a lot safer and less likely to hack attacks, i like the tab feature most, i simply leave internet explorer dormont and whenever firefox say no, i copy and paste the url into a i.E window and that sorts it with the problems ive faced.

Also, its off topic but ive had an .Asp system made up so my current cd shop is going to get scrapped right and a big automatic cd shopping cart system online automatically soing the excel work im currently having to type in myself, however firefox flops, who can figure out why! My directory structure is what it is, so / meants look down into a directory and \ directs it otherwise. For some reason when it comes to a particuallar option of more details on a artist cd page it they click more details i can see in the bottom left corner fireflop reads a / for a \

no big problem anyway ill just explain that on the site
