In a few hours I will be sitting in a plane to beautiful Berlin. I'm looking forward to spending a few days with Martin (that's the guy who chickened out of the NAO meeting just in case you were wondering) and on Saturday there is going to be Access Peace.
My first vacation since Christmas and pure Berlin goodness. Oh yeah.

I love Germany. I think that was my favorite country when I visited Europe. I went all over including Italy and Greece (though it is close between Germany and Italy). Germany is very much different than here in the south, USA. There are huge tall trees everywhere the eyes can see. In germany, there are lots of pastures and small "midget" trees. I thought those were so strange.
Everything is just so interesting, but I'll have to confess. I was awfully happy to see a McDonalds while I was there. :P

That reminds me, I forgot to ask this in the "places to visit in Europe" discussion - will there be a problem for vegetarians in any part of Europe? I mean here myself and my wife already have a very hard time trying to find good vegetarian food in the US, even the french fries that are sold in the Mac are fried in beef oil, can't even eat at BurgerKing. The Japanese and Chinese restaurants add eggs by default in their vegetarian menu, and usually cook in fish oil.
The only option we have is to cook at home or eat out at a couple of restaurants which provide vegetarian food (like IHOP). Some more choices if we do eat cheese are Taco Bell and Subway. Apart from these, I am yet to find a food joint where I can get pure vegetarian food.
It is okay for me as I can eat eggs sometimes, but for my wife it's really a pain to go out and then not being able to eat anything at all.
So, will that be a problem if we are visiting Europe?

I'd say it depends on the type of food you're looking for. With McDonald's et al (Burger King, Pizza Hut et al are rare here) it's probably hard to find something acceptable. OTOH most 'real' restaurants offer some vegetarian food, or you can order some standard meal and ask them to cook it according to your wishes. A friend of mine is allergic to cheese, and he usually gets anything I get minus the cheese. Most service areas also offer some salads or vegetarian pasta. At least in Switzerland you can also get those meat replacement thingies like Tofu and stuff, if you like them.
Or you could just visit all the NAOees and eat there. ;-)

We brought two throwaway cameras full of pictures back to Munich. I'll have them turned into pictures as soon as possible. Which is... uhm... well I sent in the pictures of Loveparade 2000 one week ago to give you an idea.
