Gigi D'agostino - Lamour Toujours

Lamour Toujours started with a song I heard on a shoutcast station. It quickly evolved into my reccomending the album to a freind (who has been guided to this site and may respond to this very post if he chooses to), and shortly there after, my purchasing thereof. What I got was 12 tracks of pure bliss, and two of which were ones I was familiar with (Lamour Toujours or I'll Fly With You and Bla, Bla, Bla). Not only did the album just keep on going with familiar with sounds... but it was never the same. And to keep a consistent feel and atmosphere while providing variety must be pretty hard because so few artists can do it consistently.

My only complaint so far is with Bla, Bla, Bla: It really feels like a song that should be so much more peppy. But it isn't. It's much darker than I would have liked... but hey, nothing's perfect.

The Way, which is a remix of a song by Fastball, I believe. At first I didn't recognize it until it got into the main lyrics, and then I stopped... recalled... and rejoiced... they made a brilliant remix from an already great song! It is my favourite song on the album so far. The beat is reminiscent of the song that it is based on, yet it's entirely different. This guy is talented!

NOOOOO!!! I can't believe you know Gigi D'ag! He's 100% Italian :) I didn't know that he was also known abroad actually, also because I didn't think his style could be liked by anybody but Italians.

I wonder if he translated his pieces in English or what. I mean, many of his pieces are written in English; even those dedicated to the Italian public. However, some of them are in Italian. Did he maintain the language or everything was translated?

Also, have you listened to "La passion" yet? It is definitely my favorite one, even though I cannot explain why :P

Yeppers!

YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!

How dare you try to keep such an amazing artist's work to yourself. Sheesh, you italians are a selfish bunch. :-P

And I like the whole album, so I LOVE La Passion. Also, I ordered online so I can't be sure if his music was ever italian. Some is, I'm sure, but most of it is in english, at least on the disc I own.

I should be ashamed of myself.

As Aynjell's friend I can attest to this cd being a very good cd. I don't usually buy music. Not because I pirate, but the radio doesn't cost $20 for 3 good songs and 17 substandard songs. Aynjell sent me I'll Fly With You and I just couldn't get enough of it. I had to get the cd, and with some Christmas money I had left over I got it. I couldn't have been more happy about my purchase, it really is a good cd. I do have to disagree with Aynjell about Bla Bla Bla and the Dark mix of Bla Bla Bla. I really enjoy the vocal trance on that song, it just seems to flow so nicely. I will definetly listen to Aynjell's recommendations in the future. Well its nice to be welcomed into the community and I look forward to becoming apart of it.

p.s. I hope my grammer isn't too bad. I'm a Junior in college working on my Computer Engineering degree, but sadly english never was something I excelled at... java and C make more sense. :-D

Your grammar is not so bad, and afterall you're totally understandable. Also, consider that here the majority of the people come from non English speaking countries (like Germany, Switzerland, Italy...) so our grammar might contain mistakes as well. The important thing is that we make an effort in order to be understood.

However, I gotta admit that our English standards are pretty high for not being native speakers. But I don't want to boast too much. :P

Getting back to the topic... There was this period in which I totally loved Gigi D'ag. I was a teenager back then, and here that kind of music was definitely a big deal. I remember all my friends dancing on his music (some people even singing the lyrics doing an awful job), and mainly having fun listening to it. Then for some strange reason, he stopped producing music, or at least it is not a big hit anymore, and I haven't heard people talking about him anymore, if not for minor things.

Since you like that kind of music, maybe you could check out my all time favorite artist, Gabry Ponte. He is the singer of Eiffel 65, and I love their music so much. He has done also some solo things. Here you can find some of the best CDs.

I think that his sounds are definitely interesting. I warn you that some songs are in Italian or partially in Italian though, but not for this less enjoyable.

Also, as far as weird dance stuff, I love one particular song, which is sung in Latin. The title is Magica Europa, and the artists are the Kronos. Unfortunately, I don't know where the heck find a link for that, because all the kronos stuff I find is the French death metal band. However, on wikipedia you'll see some little facts. If from there you can find a link to download the song, or a link to facts on the band or whatnot, then it is up to you. I can provide the song too, if null gives me a little bit of space to put it on the nao server for you all to download.

Yeah, his grammar is good enough for NAO, for sure. He's understandable, and his text isn't an eyesore. If anything, NAO will get him up to speed quickly.

As for that Grabry Ponte, I'll be sure to look into it. I'm never closed to music unless it's that trash that is every so popular right now. Rap is just fucking horrible. There are certain artists worth hearing, but those people are the same people that pioneered the worst parts of the genre. Violence, sex, materialism... whatever happened to music? That's all I care about when it comes to music: Music. So I am almost never opposed to something new.

Also, I really like the songs Elisir, The Riddle, and Another Way, off the album. The Riddle has probably become my favourite. The whistling noise in the background and catchy... what the hell... now you know this is a good album. I switched songs and the song I'm listening to now reminded me IT was my favourite song. Definitely deserves a rating change... I would like to ammend it: I think it deserves a 10.

I should be ashamed of myself.

this is what catches every artist. they get to the 'dark side' :]

the commercial side of music is disgusting. especially when it dominates in the artist. it ends in music videos that are better without sound, full of chicks and bling. in expensive cds, filled with desperate lack of content. in music stars appearing in movies that always turn out to suck. in stupid star-related gadgets (jewellry, underwear and stuff). ugh. hey, where did the music go?

now, the mentioned album is really neat. but unfortunately the rest of d'ag works is way too similar to each other making his music boring. also many of his songs are remakes of older hits, based on simple music scores you probably heard somewhere else.

i'd give him 0/10 for being just another pop artist (hate'em) that will quickly be forgotten.
on the other hand he also deserves 6/10 points for being the one few who actually stand out a little. it's a small shiny example that even a dull pop artist can make something neat from time to time :]
