Tom and Becca and the secret to life

Tom and Becca

My grandfather once told me something that at the time meant nothing but now means everything. “Tom life is a all one big story, and once the author (you) passes on all that matters is that you left an impression and you lived your life to the fullest” my grandfather said. I’ll admit when I was 11 I really didn’t understand him partly because the way he expressed the idea really wasn’t all that great. The puzzled look staring my grandfather in the face he said with enthusiasm. “It would be as if I were to bang a nail into the wall with a hammer and then through the hammer in a pit of lava, the hammer doesn’t matter just the impression the hammer left which would be the nail because the nail will always be there to remember”. Still confused but not in the mood for another long metaphor I said “oh now I get it” and that was that. Six years later while walking to the school dance with my best friend Becca the lesson my grandfather preached would be brought up and in turn change Becca and my lives for ever. Becca and me where the best of friends we were almost twins in things liked and disliked. We both loved talking about philosophy, Religion, space, and topics of the world. However, it was this cloudy winter night that we discussed something that has never touched the air of our planet. While on the way to the dance we started to talk about how much hate there is in this world and how close society is to just destroying the most precious thing we have Earth. Becca said, “I love us”, not knowing quite what she meant I asked, “what does that mean” she said “Our friendship is perfect”. Still confused and ready to ask what do you mean for a third time, Becca said “you know the book the Giver how everything was taken away such as color, emotions, and general freedom to achieve a perfect society”. Filled with excitement because The Giver is my favorite book I said “yeah of course” She then said “that really wasn’t necessary because if the giver were to pass on the feeling that we have right now of the perfect friendship it would eliminate all the hate and other factors that cause for a corrupt world. Thinking of how perfectly right she was and how ingenious this thought really was, I had the feeling that all of time was a test given by god put upon the human race to find out the secret of life. Before I could tell Becca my idea, the clouds that once covered as far as you can see suddenly parted. The moon that five minutes ago couldn’t be seen was in full gloom and casting two shadows that to me looked oddly large almost god like of Becca and me. Then a voice that sounded like no other spoke down on us. The voice who I knew immediately was the creator of time and space said “The words that touched the air tonight are the words that I’ve been waiting to be said for as long as time exist, the words that were said tonight are the answer to all the hate and horror in this world, in return you two will be chosen as my prophets to recreate my failure you will have the task of making the perfect world. Completely baffled by what just happened we were taken up into the heavens where our task was to be done. After 18 years, the task was complete looking down from the heavens Becca and I were finally taking in a tangible image of a perfect world. The idea of a perfect world free of hate, horror, racism, and war was once a faint figment of our imagination, but now it was right in front of us. Becca then turned to me and asked, “What’s next” I then responded “us” my answer being quite vague she really didn’t know what I meant so I made it more clear by saying “Becca, or eyes have seen murder, or eyes have seen racism, or eyes have seen the dreadfulness of war, or eyes are corrupt as well as our brains and for that we are not suitable to live in this new world”. Horrified Becca said “but when we die there’s nothing” I then said sure when we die there might be nothing and there might be something but it really doesn’t matter because all that matters is the impression we left, all that matters are the shadows that were laid upon that cold concrete the night that changed the world. Still standing motionless looking down at our creation, the lesson my grandfather taught me 23 years ago is truly what would create and complete the perfect nirvana.

The End

This is a fictional story, for those idiots that may have the stupidity to think its true.
