I made it!

I am quite happy today :)
Two years ago I started my second apprenticeship (after quitting the university) at the MAZ, a media school in Lucerne, Switzerland and the Liechtensteiner Volksblatt. On february 1st, we had to go through a five-hour-final-examination after they have accepted our diploma work. Since then I almost prayed each day and I hoped and shivered. Last night I've even dreamt of failing. Well, today, the envelope finally arrived and ...I passed! :) Couldn't believe it till I opened it and still I am a bit too calm. Anyway, I finally have a graduation or something like that and a profession I learned for, even if it was just for two years. But it is still cool. Now, the only problem I have, is, that nobody hired me yet. Grumpy old Volksblatt had to kick me because of budgetarian reasons. At least I can freelance a lot at the moment, which keeps me quite busy or even more than I wished. I thought job-less should be more easygoing ;)

Well, me too. Of course I didnt manage something great as completing an apprenticeship yet, but at least I'm leaving this darn place - finally!

Finally the bloody race is over! Finally no stupid quarrels anymore, with my mother, who's been treating me like a 10-year old idiot for years now.

Today evening I'm doing my final moves - gonna travel to my beloved one's place and start on some 'praktikum' in Karlsruhe at a very promising looking company, that eventually gonna offer me an apprenticeship for the job I always wanted: Fachinformatiker für Anwendungsentwicklung.

So .. good luck to you, Orchid, in finding a job or doing it the freelancer way - choose your weapons, each option is hard in its own way. Freelancing is rough and hard - I know that.
I've been doing this for years. Not in journalism, but within the IT business. Right now I shoulda finish a big project and I dont know yet if I'm going to manage this. But it would earn me a respectable amount of money to start with for my new life.

Decisions, decisions .. have to be made..
I'm going to tell the rest of you after I've been into this for some time. ;)

Re: I made it!

Thank you, w0lf!
Nice, to hear that you're heading to a "new life". So, you're moving? Because you said: no more quarrels with your mom. Well, I guess, it wouldn't stop your mom from calling and stuff ;)
Anyway, I wish you good luck, too and keep us updated!

I'm going to install some nice computer / router stuff that'll play a different ring tone when she's calling. Something like a loud big warning sirene or so. And then I still am able to decide whether I switch her on the answering machine, dont let me bother at all or take up the phone.

Nasty but necessary. ;)
