In my limited wanderings to and from climbing venues during these last few years of public schooling, I've run into any number ofvery interesting, diverse, and successful people. Many of them have led rather incongrous lives, the more mild simply not using their credentials in the societally accepted manner, and the most extreme, leaving their jobs, families and homes to chase dreams of a better life doing something amazing. Since I am about to embark upon my own journey to discover my place in this world I wanted to read some of your stories, experiences, or those of people who you've encountered. Maybe get some encouragement that my family isn't providing me.

When you are climbing, climb, when you are resting, rest. -Arno Ilger
Reading that post excited me. It was like a golden invitation to bestow lessons learnt. I am quite frankly amazed how more people have not taken the opportunity to share.
I have basic and quite stupid rules. But I have a good job, good friends and a family who'll laugh at me most days but still love me. So as I see it, take these rules with a pinch of salt and you shouldn't go to far wrong.
Come to think of they shouldn't be called rules.... anyway:
1. When out, or faced with a decision at night: Do what scares you and say to yourself " I'll think about it in the morning." It works wonders.
2. Respect all. Even a bad painting deserves a good light to be judged.
3. Spend whatever you have. If I died tomorrow with £50 in my bank account and hadn't spent it on others or myself, I would be one angry angel.
Oh and dont forget to be happy.
