Right, it's 2007 already and we haven't had a real NAO meeting for quite a while now.

Date
Traditionally the meeting starts on a Friday evening and lasts until whenever everybody's left on Sunday, but that's really not carved in stone. My suggestion for a date is February 9-11 (Friday-Sunday, no allusions to Osama intended) just because it'd be a good date for me, but feel free to make your own suggestions.

Place
As always, I'd like to offer my&Orchid's place. It's located in Eastern Switzerland, can comfortably accommodate 3-5 guests (1 double bed couch, 1 single bed, 1 big couch, space for sleeping bags) and offers WLAN, 780 Gigs of storage space (200 Gigs used) and hi-speed access to the NAO server.

What to do
This of course depends on the location. If there's snow I suggest the traditional downhill race / snowball fight. Popular games such as Kill Dr. Lucky are always an option.

Naturally, I love Jesus very much. I love him so much that I'd like to crucify him all over again.

Well I'm about a month into my first job, and I'd risk getting the bad eye if I asked for holiday so soon. I have to work 5 days out of the week (monday through friday) from 9 to 6:30 (47.5 hours per week). Honestly, I'd love to take you up on the opportunity if I could. I haven't technically been to a netalive meeting before, though Elena has and has said great things about it.

I'm still good for the meeting online thing, though. :)

Maybe we need to start a thread about all the reasons why we can't make it to the meeting. That could be really interesting.

My story is pretty cut and dry, I'm in Afghanistan and have been for 37 days shy of a year and as much as I'd like to come to the meeting to see you guys, my wife and kids would be really upset that I skipped returning home as quickly as possible. Haha. =)

And probably the saddest fact of all would be that life has a way of tugging at you from every conceivable direction and never seems to allow you to do those things you just want to do. The sad reality of surviving and making money to feed children and hungry wives and then provide a place to live, vehicle to drive, etc...

Sometimes reality sucks, but under the circumstances I'd say my life isn't all that bad really.

Summer good idea, I might be able to make it depending on some of the dates! and I'd be escaping winter for a little bit too =D

Okay, this may be a crazy idea and I'm not even sure about it myself, but maybe we can consider it together?

The situation is as follows:

A colleague of mine knows somebody who knows somebody who owns a huge mansion in Spain. I think it's got 6 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, not sure though, plus the usual living-room/kitchen stuff. Add a pool and a huge (5000m²) garden, the sea (5km away) and some islands with old villages on them.
They owners rent it out to tourists and stuff for €2000-€2850 a week, depending on when you're there.
It's near Mallorca, so (thanks to Ballermann tourists) flights from Central Europe to the mansion are many and cheap, yet it's still a rather remote place.

I've wanted to spend some time with friends there for years. The trick is that it's rather expensive but the price is divided by the number of people, i.e. for 8 people the rent would be 300-350 bucks each. Food and dope would of course cost extra.

My colleague has been nice enough to provide me with a bunch of pictures of his stay there. Here are a few of them:

Ohhhh, i'd love love love to go to spain. Unfortunately there's no way i'd be able to afford it in 07. However i am frantically job hunting at the moment, and am feeling the need to travel in 08. so long as i have the money, im intending to be in europe in june/july 08. so i vote that there be some form of NAO meeting then! of course, feel free to meet many times before this :P so long as i get photos, and perhaps a drunken phone call at an inappropriate time :P

So, the long and short of it all is i'll be around and wanting to meet all you lovely people in 08 so long as i'm employed. so... if you want a friendly, somewhat kooky visitor, let me know :D
