Dear Journal,
Today has been a blessed day.
After reading a nice passage from the bible, I headed off to school.
At school I made the most of my time before my evening class. I was able to include a swim session in my day along with an unexpected and delightful surprise of adding ratings, replies, and a journal entry to my newly found online community.
As it is, I am not going to be able to write after 17:30, this evening, but definately am going to do some midnight reading.
Possibly, as a plan of dispursing my time wisely, after reading a post I will prepare a reply in a word processor and then add it once I am able i.e. when time allows or when post to my account are allowed.
It was a very blessed day and to be sure, I was glad a most prominent community member aided me in being able(allowed) to write post to my heart's content.
note to self: remember to add to the forum titled, "Books."
What comes around goes around.
"I assume by your signature and profile that you are Asian."[note: the quote function was not working at the time this post]
It just so happens to be that I am [drum roll, please]- not Asian.
Racial profile by the U.S. Census people is one of the topics we are discussing in a linguistics course I am enrolled in (Race, Ethnics, and Culture in America).
If you go here, you can see who I am, and then you will know more about me. Plus, if you go here, you'll be able to learn a lot about Mandarin Chinese.
If you go here, you can see the only post online where I give a short review on the Japanese animation, "Odin." I love Japanese animation.
It may be because I like a lot about Japanese culture and life.
I have studied a few martial art forms e.g.Shotokan: age 10-12; Kajukenbo: age 17; Masunoki: age 25; Aikido and Kendo: age 29.
I also lived in Japan for one and a half years, cook with my Chinese wife (we met at an international bible study), Japanese food.
As well as the above, I have even taken a class working with Japanese Traditional Handtools, learning Japanese joinery.
Go here to check out the carpentry dojo. I'm not featured, but that may be a good thing.:)
That said, I can not say that possibly in my former life I wasn't of Chinese relation. But then again, being a follower of Christ, I do not believe in reincarnation. Though, I did practice Hinduism for approximately eight years. It's a long story, see.
Thank you, I do want to be welcomed, to an international chapter. In fact, any international or domestic -- as if I am a mechanic, now, or something -- collaboration is welcomed on my part.
In a later journal entry, I just may discuss my travels. Or, I may start a new forum. Yes, a new forum titled Travel. [Leans back and lightly drums fingers along the arm of the chair, allows the mind to play on the image]
It may be that I have to come up with a more appropriate title, now that I think about it.
Real quick, though, I spent one year in China learning Chinese.
I lived in the city, Hebei. It was so awesome. That was during 1999-2000. Before that, I had taken up studying Chinese at SDSU (see link above), in the Fall semester of 1998. In total it was a four year tour of learning Chinese in an academic environment.
My purpose in studying Chinese was because I wanted to and could. That and the fact that I had recently stumbled upon a huge population group of Chinese while in San Diego.
Plus, I love languages. It all started in high school when learning Spanish and Russian. I did better in Russian than Spanish. I equate the success in Russian to the use of computers. Something I am interested in, now i.e. computational linguistics.
For what it's worth, I hope to continue in contact with you and others of the NAO community. So far I've recieved nothing but a welcomed feeling.
And you thought this would be a short reply.
