This seems like a nice book to read while vacationing on a Hawai'i island. I can picture myself on a nice oceanside patio with a slight ocean breeze blowing, relaxing in a chair and absorbing the authors descriptions, with a nice cup of cocao in my hand.
(note: cocao may seem a quaint choice of drinks while on a beach in Hawai'i, but I really enjoy drinking it.)
What comes around goes around.

I think it has to be said that as an engineering student Im not expected to have any kind of opinion on literature. This is, of course, wrong. I love books, so as for one favourite book is a bit difficult to pin down. I find it hilarious that I can advise my friends at the Oxford just up the road on books to write their essays on.
Engineering students can do literature, but students of literature cant do engineering.
So first book on my list would have to be "A Scanner Darkly" by Phillip K Dick. I got it before the fairly recent film adaption (which in itself is quite rare since it stays faithful to the book, and well worth seeing) and absolutely love the way that Dick writes about Arctor's personality splitting into two people.
Second on my list would probably be something by Pratchett. Night Watch, maybe. Good read, good message.
The last I'd put down would be The Prince by Machiavelli. One of several books I like about human nature.
Sir Deimos, Beater of Ass.
