So, has anybody seen Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End, yet? I went to see it with a co-worker, and really enjoyed it. I can't really say it defined any genre's or represented what every film maker should strive to be... but it was a good movie.
My favourite funny moment was when the midget jumped onto the pier and fired off his mini-cannon, disappearing into the off-screen behind him as he was propelled by the weapon's recoil. Fucking brilliant.
As an aside, how is everyone? It's truly been a while.
I should be ashamed of myself.
We went to see it last weekend, and I for one was pleasantly surprised about the degree that the third part managed to avoid the "each sequel sucks more" rule. Johnny Depp is brilliant as usual; the ending is okay, nothing revolutionary but it fits the story nicely, and anything that causes Orlando Bloom pain and potentially makes Keira Knightley a single again is fine with me. The story is maybe a bit far-fetched and/or too complicated for my taste, but I'm probably just prone to having too high expectations there.
Oh, and hi. :-) I'm fine, you?

Overall, I'm quite good. Life has put me into a cheaper living situation and a better paying job. I can't complain about that, now can I?
As for the second movie... I agree. Halo 2 and Pirates 2 both did something no full length feature should do... cliff hang. I hated them both for it.
I should be ashamed of myself.
I didn't think it was a bad movie. However, with how open they left it for a fourth movie there damn well better be one and hopefully it will have some sort of definite conclusion because I would certainly hate to see such an enjoyable line of films dilapidate and lose what made them good by virtue of the plot getting dragged along too far.
I do also feel the need to point out that I at points in all three movies get really disgusted with the Elizabeth/Will relationship and their parts in the storyline. Both characters are honestly somewhat flat.

Heh, I wouldn't mind a fourth movie, provided they don't sacrifice story quality in favour of a quick buck.
On the other hand, considering that Jack ends up doing what he always does and what he's best at (being robbed of his ship and looking for a secret treasure), I think the third part's ending can also be interpreted as a "... happily ever after" of some kind.
Or maybe they didn't know whether there will be a 4th part and thus chose an ending that gave them all options.

I liked the movie also. I liked the writing and such. I felt a few things were left unresolved. Overall it was a very decent movie. The additional content after the credits was good, though nothing very special. Credits were extreamly long also. In addition I thought the movie over all was one of the best I have seen this year. Much better ending to a triliogy than Spiderman 3.
BTW hello Aynjell, its been a while. I remember null also. So hi to him also.

I'm doing well, living as a student live on instead noodles and lots of coffee and our new drug of choice "Mother"
Now about the movie, I waited really really long for this movie as I enjoyed the first two quite a bit. But the third,
Well firstly I didnt remember much of the second movie, it had been a year since I'd seen it so that posed a lot of confusion in the beginning. There were a lot of loose ends. Davy Jones was a huge dissapointment. And well besides Jack Sparrow I really didn't enjoy it that much as for most of the time I was trying to remember what the f*ck happened in the last movie.
*sigh*
The big deals wearnt as big, eg calypso, 9 of the 8 pieces or even Davy Jones Locker...
