I started shopping around for mouse pads recently. There is a surprisingly enticing selection available. I still can't decide on what to buy though, since there are a few that meet my needs... and then when I finally deicde what to buy, where to buy is yet another issue since you are gonna get raped on shipping if you don't decide right. So far, I've decided that it has to be fucking huge. 17 inches wide and greater than 11 inches high.
Mousing surfaces have become quite a popular upgrade for gamers lately. With hyper sensitive (2000hz and beyond) mice capable of detecting an ant fart, you need a mouse pad that allows you to use such an amazing at it's peak. So far, I've found that the simplest designs are often the best, and here are the ones I've decided are candidates for my purchase:
Func F-series (For size and texture)
Xtrac Ripper XL (For size, smoothness and price)
Razer Cloth Generic (For size)
Perhaps some of you geek type people will have some input? Any product I buy will get a nice review here.
I should be ashamed of myself.
As a follow up to my excursion into micing surfaces, I'm going to speak my mind on the item I DID buy: The Xtrac Ripper XL. More or less, it wasn't anything special except it was oversized. The surface wore and tore much like a run of the mill pad, and it collected oil just like a pad. It got rough with dirt and oil, just like a pad... I didn't care for it and don't reccomend it unless you need a pad style mousing surface that's extra big.
It's been replaced by a hard surfaced unit called the Razer eXactMat. It features two surfaces, one rough, the other smooth. This unit, on the other hand, is quite frankly, awesome.

Well .. lets have some linkage ;)
