As for Yours Truly, I would love to...

  1. visit you on Mt. Rigi on day 4,

  2. pick you up on day 3 to take you to our place for some beer and cider tasting and return you on day 4, or

  3. pick you up on day 4 and drive you to Florence on day 5, with a detour to visit some people in Turin.

Option 3 means you'd miss looking at beautiful mountains all day, shopping and (according to your travel documents) taking the Resort's dog out for a walk. As a substitution I could offer you lunch, a few rounds on Switzerland's only two-story kart track (yes we are a small country), taking Kiki out for a walk, the view of lots of slightly smaller mountains from the backyard of the local rock bar and some cider/beer tasting. On the way to Italy we could stop at FoxTown to compensate for the missed shopping opportunities... plus you'd finally get your black Audi with chauffeur (though you gotta promise not to lick the paint).

Let me know what you'd prefer and I'll ask my boss for a day or two off rightaway!

Ahahah. Give Mel time to decide first! :-)

(Alternatively we could meet at, say Lugano, and go shopping together or something. Or I drop her at Milano, Turin, ... the possibilities are countless!)

Well, I don't think that Neil will be able to get a day off unfortunately, so we might be able to see him only for like lunch. And it goes without saying that I cannot come to Switzerland if I am alone (my parents would never let me come with my car or alone by train despite the fact that I'm 26)
We'll see how we can work this out then!

PS. Mel take your aussie butt over to Turin, otherwise... No no, I won't tell you the nasty things that I could do to you... it's best if I don't, so it is even scarier and you're obliged to come :D

Shsht, Mel, you better don't push your luck... she'll phone home and tell her family that you put the salt in the pasta water before it boils, and what follows is not pretty. I've seen it happen!!

Oh please don't remind me of how your brother made the sauce for the pasta!! Please, Bernie... I don't need to remember that right before I fix dinner! Muahahahahah

Ahem *Urs* your pasta was delicious I promise! ;)

Hmm... as far as mate and g'day I was acknowledged... what about the word bastard though?! I have no idea of the aussie pronunciation... Oh my Goodness... Mel it will be interesting to talk to you for real!!

null *** is unsure about...

Re: I'm coming to see you!

I have no idea of the aussie pronunciation...

According to Bob the Aussie it goes something like "baah-st'd".

Other tidbits of Aussie etiquette he's taught me is to say "die you bastard" ("doy ya baah-st'd"; when he says "die" he actually means "day") when somebody sneezes, and apparently the proper way to say hello on the telephone among programmers is "don' fuckin' work." I'm sure this will impress the hell out of our beloved Mel! :-)

(I'm definitely gonna have to practice with him sometime next month though; when he's on the phone with his mom, I still don't understand a single word.)

null *** has an idea...

Alternatively...

...we could get you, dear Mel, from Paris to Switzerland by plane (instead of the bus) for a just few bucks on day 3, then have dinner, go out for a drink and stuff, and travel to Turin on the afternoon of day 4 for a bit of swiss-italo-american-strine dialect mix-up, and on day 5 either arrange a meeting with the bus en route to Florence or drive you there.

There are countless possibilities really! Above all it depends on how much (and what part) of the bus tour Mel is willing to miss.

Also, who's travelling with you?

I was hoping that we'd get some more info... it's the 4th of May... where is Mel at the moment? In Paris? Is she actually going to see you Bernie? And are you guys coming for a short visit? I'm gonna sms you now so you'll let me hopefully know.

Argh, i'm so sorry my darling NAOees. as you have now worked out, I never made it to Europe. work would not give me the time off I'm afraid, and my travel companion booked her own trip.

In recent news I've decided to quit my job next year in favour of a year of full-time study. I'm doing a course in live production, which i hope will actually help bring me closer to you all. I'd love to travel the world as a followspot op. Sadly, being unemployed for one year means that my Europe-fund has just become Pay-Mel's-Rent-in-2010 fund.

Of course, should anyone want to venture down this end of the world, there's always a coach for you, or if people even feel the desire to come moderately close I could re-evaluate funds! If I get a reasonable bonus in August, I will quit my job early and travel in October/November, but I'm not holding my breath...

That being said, anyone wanting an accent-coaching lesson should let me know and i'll give you my phone number. I strongly suggest watching episodes of Kath&Kim (the aussie one, not the pile of shit american one) or the film The Castle.

All my love, from afar :(

Does McLeods Sisters count too?? That's the only Aussie production we have here... hmm actually it's in Italian, but I don't remember how I got a hold of some original language stuff!! That accent is just so plain funny. Sounds like British, but it's not quite British. Sry didn't mean to make fun of the Aussies... just know I love your accent!! I wonder how New Zealanders speak like. I've heard Ihimaera once, but I'm afraid I don't recall his accent :(

Re: I'm coming to see you!

Oh, it's all in good fun. we all laugh at our own accents! Yes, it's very much cockney gone disastrously wrong. place the sound in the front of your mouth, then remember that nobody fucking cares and trail off a bit, and you've got it going on!

Kiwi's have even funnier accents. youtube Cal Wilson. She's a kiwi comedian who has moved over here. good accent example.
