Well .. lets get behind thee.

I'd rather change the overall design but keep the cozy feeling alive to GET THIS bloody site back to life than watch it sink!

Suggestions? Aside from mine in May 2010?

So, does that mean that all things that have stood the test of time and haven't changed need to be redone? What about the seven wonders of the world?

Maybe the prymaids need a new coat of paint. Or maybe we should put blackberry, i-pods and cell phones all over it. Damn now wouldn't that be shiny...

It's ok that this place remains what it has been and it has had writers that wrote way back still comming back to keep writing.
There are plenty of trendy places on the net that keep up dating and changing to keep up with the times. It's ok that this place doesn't suffer that.

Sorry, but: I'm not with the trendy ones. "Trend" is to be found within FecesBook and MyShite. Also, NAO had some refreshes over the time, not only mere design-centered ones. But Jaz isn't caring or looking after this site anymore, so it stays in its current state .. till it falls out of the net.

I'd want some proper realignments, some improvements, get the site a good brush-over and maybe a bit more activity - like it had in 2003 ;)

Thank you for clarifying the intent. It helps me understand better what is being discussed.

If Jazz has more or less abandoned this site, does that mean that what happens to it depends on what we who come here decide to do either with it or just let it die away slowly?

If it's up to us then it becomes a group effort to do what ever needs to be done to keep it. That I am in total agreement with.
I love the simplicity of the design of this place. It's easy to navigate and there isn't alot of bells and whistles to try to figure out how to use.

I love the graphics because that adds to the feeling of home.

What might be interesting to see is not just one format design, the black back ground with the white lettering, but taking the forums and color coding them the same way. I don't know if that makes sense, or if I'm even wording it right.

An example of what I'm seeing is that say for the phillosophy forum the main back ground is stormy sea blue and the lettering is in midnight blue, or something along color coded lines.

A problem I've always had is trying to figure out the immage loader on here. I've tried to follow the instsructions, but I get completely lost every time and finally I just stopped trying to figure it out.

That's about all I can think of at the moment.

By the way, thanks for not getting offended by what I said. This place means alot to me and I would morn it's passing.

Just FYI, Jaz & me were discussing the technical aspects of a site overhaul a while ago. Don't blame him for not acting, it's me who's delaying things at the moment. My real-life workload is just too high. But the ideas posted here (and then some) are being discussed. Watch this place for more info sometime soon(ish)!

No, the concepts & technology behind the netalive.org universe are entirely Jaz's work. I'm merely providing the server it sits on. :-) This might change in the near future, but it's really too early to start any rumours. ;-)

What does a bag of blame look like? Can it be kept in the freezer if I don't use it all at once?

A bag of blame...I had to think about that for a little while and I think it would look like a bag of severed fingers fitted with homing devices that act like watch dogs so that when a person gets out of line the finger will get them and remind them..how's that for a visual explaination of what a bag of blame is?

To commit the time and everything else that is required to be a service provider tells me that you understood the vision Jazz had and wanted to see him suceed. :) Pretty amazing. Since finding people to have the same kind of faith and belief you have in a dream isn't an easy thing to do.

All of us who have been comming here for a long time are truely in your debt and in debt to Jazz as well for being the dreamer he is. :) Thanks Jazz where ever you are... And thank you Null for believing that is was possible.

Anyway, I understand and I know what ever you guys decide to do that the decision will not be made lightly. This place has always been one of the most amazing places on the net. A little hard to find unless you type in some weird let's see what this brings up, kind of person, or you get invited, or something else brings you here.

The people who have written on this site and continue to do so are part of a very fine and very private world.
There has been and still is brilliant minds at work in this place, dreamers, inventors,and those who need a safe place to rest while they are healing.

It is a place where the words of people a half a world away from me have made me think, have inspired me and contiue to do so, poked at uncomfortable places that have made me react.

Then get yer lazy ass moving! Doing this in little steps then and then shant be that hard if you got a proper development plan written down (or curved down in stone)!

Like I said before I'd step in with a helping hand - I'm not a PERL crack but I do know C (and C#, PHP, Java etc.pph) and am THE web guy for 12 years by now, so at least that last topic would be no PITA (at least for me) ;)
