Reading What Sucks

This morning I decided to visit two friends of mine, and I took a different way than the usual one to get to their house. I live in a quite big city and they live in a small country 40 Km far from here. Well, I decided to take the highway for once.

After 10 Km I saw one of those SOS places where there is a telephone you can use to call police or whatever. Well, I'm still shocked for the horrible thing I got to see. There was a dog laid down on the asphalt, and I couldn't tell if it was dead or alive. So I parked the car there and got to check on it. It was covered in blood and had a broken leg.

I used the blanket I always have in my trunk and put it on the backseats. I cuddled it a little while driving, and I got some licks in exchange. It had such a lovely attitude on me :) Well, as I got to my destination, my friends and I got the dog to a veterinary, and right now it's still there. The guy said that it will get healed soon, and my friends decided to adopt it afterwards.

This story has a happy end, but that dog was lucky. There are many horrible persons who abandon their lovely pets on highways during vacation time. I still can't believe how they can act in such a cruel way. Sometimes I am ashamed of being part of the so called "human beings".

I used to think so, too. But I gave up on it. You have to develop some kind of "filter". You have to avoid news and things like that. Otherwise you get crazy. People can be sooo cruel...
You have to learn getting indifferent by hearing and seeing all the mess we leave...

I disagree, Orchid. If everyone turned indifferent as you say, this world we live in would surely get a wasteland in no time. On the contrary, if everyone improve himself for the better, we still have the possibility to assure our kids a better life and future.

The world is wasteland already if you look at all the bad things happening day per day.
I, myself am a big egoist and I am telling you this because you may understand my last post better so:
Turning indifferent is a self-defense action. I don't want to get sad because I am feeling sad and down already far too much and too often. I want to make the best of my life, and, it may sound too hard, I want to turn my head away, cover my ears and close my eyes because I don't want to see this "film", don't want to hear the screams. Of course, I have to "consume" a natural amount of those bad things but I want to prevent me from more than necessary.

I love my little world and I want to keep it as "clean" and happily as possible. It's the only thing I can do, look for my happiness and in this way look for the happiness of the people next to me, my friends, family, love. A smile of them is all I can do but it's a big thing... I can't cure the world. "My circle" is too important to me. I want them all to be happy and survive all the rotten things that happen. And if everybody would try to do exactly that, the world also got better. I mean, I wouldn't let a friend of mine abandon his best friend, I would talk to him or look for the animal while he's on holidays...

It's never about healing the world. But you have to reach out of your circle then and when, which is a much better, and in some regards easier way for your conscience to deal with the madness.
